The Ultimate Test

Todd, still traveling with the gang, mentions another way to enter the Pokémon League, by taking a certain test. Ash decides to try his luck. The tests are extremely difficult and Ash has one of the lowest scores, but he makes it to the end. The last test is a Pokémon battle against the test Instructor. Ash looses, but when Team Rocket attacks he's able to drive them off. After, Ash changes his mind. He'd rather win badges to get into the League.

The Breeding Center Secret

When Misty drops off Psyduck at a new Pokémon spa, our group finds out it's really run by Cassidy and Butch, members of Team Rocket! As Jessie, James and Meowth show up the new baddies catch them and turn them in to the police! Only Misty gets away, and when they see the pictures Todd took of the horrible conditions at the spa, the police arrest Cassidy and Butch instead. At the end Todd parts ways with his friends to take more pictures.

This ends the first season of the Pokémon television series. In the second season the Pokérap is replaced with Pikachu's Jukebox. Now on to Season 2!

Princess Vs. Princess

It's Princess Festival Day, where girls and woman get special treatment just about everywhere. Jessie catches a Lickitung when it eats all her shopping. Then Jessie and Misty square off in the Festival Pokémon battle. The winner gets a set of Princess Dolls. Misty borrows Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Vulpix, beating all but Jessie's Lickitung, who defeats all three! But Psyduck saves the day again, and Misty gets the dolls.

The Purr-fect Hero

Now it's Kids' Day, and Ash and his friends bring their Pokémon to a preschool to show. One little boy, Timmy, wants to see a Meowth because a wild one saved him from a Beedrill once. Team Rocket shows up to steal Pikachu and Timmy thinks Meowth is the same as the one who saved him, but when a Pokémon battle loosens a giant bolder that comes rolling straight at Timmy and Ash, the wild Meowth returns and saves the boy again.

Riddle Me This

Traveling to Cinnabar Island to get his Volcano Badge, Ash and crew discover the island is a giant tourist trap! Gary shows up for vacation, being a pain in the butt as usual. And that goes double for Team Rocket. But finally Ash is up against Blaine. His Gym is suspended over an open volcano! First Ninetales beats Squirtle, then Pikachu makes a comeback against Rhydon. Lastly, Blaine calls out his Magmar to fight Pikachu. Can it take the heat?

Volcanic Panic

Unfortunately, Pikachu is no match for the volcanic Magmar. While Ash goes to heal his Pokémon in the hot springs, Team Rocket uses their ice guns to freeze the Gym and destroy it. With Ash’s help Blaine is able to send them packing, and in thanks he allows Ash to battle with him again. In a one-on-one battle, Magmar goes up against Charizard in a fight that takes them under and over the volcano itself! But Charizard triumphs and Ash earns the Volcano Badge, his seventh. One more to go!

Beach Blank-Out Blastoise

Following a distressed Wartortle, the quartet find an island inhabited by Squirtles, Wartortles and a Blastoise! But everyone's asleep. Waking up the Blastoise, they find something pink stuck in its cannon. This strange something sings and they fall asleep too. Team Rocket takes the opportunity to steal Blastoise, but when Jigglypuff (surprise surpise) finally pops out of the cannon the trio takes a snooze, and the newly awaken Squirtles and Wartortles rescue their leader.

The Misty Mermaid

When Horsea isn’t feeling well because it needs a bigger place to swim in, Misty decides to return to the Cerulean Gym. There her sisters talk her into being the star of their ballet, The Magic Mermaid. Team Rocket tries to steal the show (or the water Pokémon, to be more exact) but the Gym’s mascot, Seel, evolves into Dewgong and blasts them off. Misty decides to leave Horsea and her Starmie at the Cerulean Gym.

Clefairy Tales

When a bunch of Clefairys steal Pikachu and Jigglypuff’s marker, among other stuff) to build a spaceship underground, Ash, Misty and a weird guy named Oswald follow Jigglypuff into the sewers. They find the spaceship and an enraged Jigglypuff beats all the Clefairys up with Pound and Double Slap! Then Ash and Misty rescue Pikachu (who is providing the energy for the spaceship with its electric attacks) and all of them jump off as the ship blasts away.

The Battle Of The Badge

As our quartet makes their way back to Viridian City, Ash just needs one more badge to enter the Pokémon League: the Earth Badge. Gary challenges the Gym leader first (it’s the Team Rocket Boss!), defeated by the ultimate Pokémon, and when it’s Ash’s turn he finds that Team Rocket has been put in charge! Jessie and Ash partake in a Gym battle, and of course Ash wins and gets his eighth badge. Now it’s off to Pallet Town to see about entering the Pokémon League! Ash’s dream is finally coming true!
