When her fever broke Lyar's strength quickly returned, she was then able to help around the hold for she could not leave till the blizzard blew away. While she and Dane were exploring the small hold she was about to enter a room that was new to her when she heard Kese chirping, she followed the chirping to be led into the kitchen. She looked around to see Kese on a fresh wherry; Kese chirped a greeting before she bit into the wherry.
"No" shouted Lyar as she scooped Kese up and away from the wherry. Kese chirped in protest and struggled to get back to the wherry.
"It's all right, you flit may have that part of the wherry food no one here eats that part" said the woman as she walked in. Lyar nodded and let the flit go, she chirped in happiness and she dived at the meat and ate hungrily. When Kese had finished eating there was a large hole in the wherry, the woman just smiled and began to cut the wherry up.
"Beia, breakfast ready yet" snarled a man as he walked into the kitchens.
"Just about Onor, why don't you call Vorak in?" asked Beia as she chopped the wherry.
        "Who's Vorak?" asked Lyar.
"He's our son, for some reason he's almost always outside. He never wants to come in unless he has to" replied Beia.
"In the snow the blizzard left, who would want to be outside?" asked Lyar as the woman shook her head. Dane gave a cross between a bark and a growl as he licked his lips; Beia smiled and tossed his a slice. He at it happily, he was about to ask for another piece when he smelt a wher. He went into his fighting stance with his ears pulled back, the hair on his back was raised to its highest. He gave a large growl and he shown his teeth. Lyar had only seen Dane is this fighting stance once, it was when they met the one eyed wher. Instead of a wher walking in a boy of seventeen turns, he wore dark leather clothes. Suddenly on the boy there was a flash of color and Lyar saw him wearing black leather. There was an intense pain in her head; the color on the boy faded and so did the pain.

"How did I just see him in color, I'm color blind. It's impossible for one like me to see in color, the healer said that I would never see in color" thought Lyar as the boy grabbed a large some of the raw wherry and left. Dane slowly left his fight stance for there was wher scent all over the boy, any human that smelt like wher like the boy had would be trouble.
"Beia, the dragons just finished clearing out the trails. It means we can go to the gather today" said Onor.
"Good, go get the runners ready...is the cart fixed yet?" asked Beia. Onor shook his head sadly.
"You could use my cart to go, it's certainly big enough and it quite new" said Lyar.
"Why don't you help Onor hook the runners up to it and I'll finish up with the wherry" said Beia as she began to cut faster. Lyar set Kese on her shoulder as she followed Onor to the stables, there were only three stalls but in each stall there were strong runners.
"Dane go get the cart,” said Lyar as Dane raced to the front of the hold.
"I'd sure like to see a canine pull a cart,” said Onor as he chuckled and slipped the harness on the runners.
"Well now's your chance, here he comes" said Lyar as she pointed to Dane, Onor's jaw dropped but no words came out. Dane let go of the straps and trotted toward Lyar, she patted his head and his small tail wagged. Lyar smiled and hitched the runners into the straps before she climbed into the cart; Dane followed his master and was met by Kese. The flit circled his head before she landed back on Lyar's shoulder, Onor shrugged his shoulder and he stepped into the drivers set. They rode to the front of the hold and picked up Beia, but Vorak was nowhere to be seen.
"Don't worry, Vorak never goes to any of the gathers with us" said Beia as they began to ride off.
It took them a while to reach the gather but they still made it, Onor let them off before he went to find a place for the team. Beia was about to give her some credits when Lyar took her out.
"Before you go bye what you need could stay for a while?" asked Beia.
"All right, I need to talk with someone in a candlemark though,” replied Lyar.
They were walking when Beia stopped at a table with three wherhide cards on it.
"Just place your bet and pick the red dragon and you will double your bet,” said the merchant.
"All right" said Beia as she placed a few credits on the table, the man held out the wherhide card with the red dragon on it before he mixed it with the other two. A man passed by the table wearing very bright clothes that the sun reflected off of, the sun was then reflected into Beia's eyes, which she shrugged off and chose her card. She picked the one with a blue dragon on it.
"Nice try, hey how about you there?" asked the merchant.
"All right" said Lyar as she placed down all her credits.
"A little cocky are we?" asked the man as he showed her the red dragon.
"Just mix the card,” replied Lyar as the man mixed the card with the other two. Suddenly the same man walked by but since she was color blind the sun didn't affect her eyes like it did Beia's. "Hmm, I chose this one,” said Lyar as she picked up the card to see the red dragon.
The man grumbled as he gave Lyar double her credits, "Thank you" said Lyar as she turned around. "Guard, Guard, help, help" shouted Lyar as loud as she could. Four guards came running, "This man is running a hoaxed card game" said Lyar as the guards surrounded the merchant.
"The girl doesn't know what she's saying,” said the merchant.
"Do I now" replied Lyar as she grabbed the merchant's arm and pulled up his sleeve to show hidden cards. "When Beia here played his partner would walk by and blind the player with his colored clothes. But a color blind person cannot see colors so when I saw him switch the red dragon card I knew that he was a fake" said Lyar as the guards grabbed the man and his partner and then led them away. "Now here is the credits that you lost, now may we proceed?" asked Lyar.
