Hatching
Lyar awoke, in was in the middle of the night. Her eyes soon adjusted to the dark, it was a little hard to tell where things were for with her color blindness; she could barely see the furs. Kese looked up and chirped.
"It's all right, I don't know why I woke up" replied Lyar as she laid back down. But in the farthest corner of her mind she could of sworn she was awoken by barking, from a large canine.
She was awoken again by the loud noises from other candidates, she looked around and saw them grabbing their hatching robes. She shot out of her furs and reached under the bed and pulled her robes out, she quickly slipped them on and fixed them to look right. She then scooped up Kese as set the flit on her shoulder, Kese replied by wrapping her tail around Lyar's neck. Lyar turned and ran out the candidate barracks, she leapt over mounds of snow and almost slipped on ice but she still ran the same speed toward the hatching sands.
She was one of the first candidates to reach the sands, when the rest arived they all walked out onto the sands. Lyar took her place away from the candidates so as not to be knocked over when they impressed. She watched as the first egg hatched, it was a tri-tone; they made there way over to one of the other female candidates. Several more eggs hatched and they all turned out ot be male, and impressed the male candidates. She began to feel anxious as if something important was about to happen to her.
Suddenly a light dragon burst from her ovoid prison, and revealed herself to the world, snowflakes and all. Soft beauty, but with such strength. Her rainbow gaze turned to one candidate - a young woman who'd recently lost a dear companion. One whom the true colors of life caused such pain.

"Lyar, I am Zryth" said the hatching.
Lyar blinked, concentrating on the dragon. The soft touch of Zryth's mind wrapped around Lyar like a silken sheet, and the color came with no pain. Cream. Light Cream.
"How is it that I can see you in color?" asked Lyar as the two left the hatching grounds.

"We're bondmates, we're suposed to see each other as we are" replied Zryth.
"Well that makes sense" replied Lyar as Kese chirped in agreement.

"Now how about you get me some food, I'm hungry" said Zryth as Lyar smiled.
"All right, I'll let you have as much as you like but no more than you can handle" replied Lyar as they turned into the feeding grounds.

"Well I guess that would make sense" said Zryth as she made her way to the chopped food.
