> > > you've got questions, i've got answers (aka proof I really do read the emails and guestbook entries!) > > What programs do you use? > I'm hella low-fi. I use Windows paint to create each individual frame and have the basic characters saved, copy and paste them into the background, fill in the background, and then add text. Once the basic background and characters are in the template I basically move a few arms, change the text, and number them. There are make different variations of each character for different occasions/strips. Then I use Animagic Gif Shareware to convert them from bmp's to gifs, and add the time elapse. I've experimented with different programs and found this system to be the best. Nothing hi-tech at all. You too can make animation. If I can figure it out, anyone can. > > Where do you get the ideas for the strips? > I'm not entirely sure. The first one just came to me one day, i was really bored goofing around in paint. I think I had spent too much time that day looking at friendbear srips and got inspired, and I just goofed around until I wound up with a complete strip. Then another, and pretty soon it was it's own little site. Sometimes, i'll make fun of an event that happened to someone in the band, like Pat on Leno, or make up a fictitious meeting or scenario that would never happen. Lately, I just think of a new way to hurt rivers. > > Aren't you worried about being sued? > Oh, very much so. But I don't make any money on this site, I am an 18 year old who has no property or assets to be taken, the worst thing they can do is take my site down, which would be very unfortunate. > > Has the band seen the cartoons? > I'm not sure. I doubt it. Karl has, and I think Pat has, Rives said that he thought he had seen them, and gave me a really scary and frightened look. I know Karl likes them a lot, the rest of the band probably thinks I'm a completely retarded ass. > >Can you slow the strips down? > I'm working on that... give me a few weeks. > > What does Matt's shirt say? > It's hard to tell, but it's supposed to say "UK OK". > > What does the H on "old" Rivers's shirt mean? > Harvard. Supposedly. Maybe it's really hash.... whatever H word you want it to stand for. > > Did Rivers really sign your guest book? > I highly doubt it. Who knows. I think that doing a video like this would be totally badass. I've thought about doing my own for a song without a video, but that would take an insane amount of time. > > Did you really meet Rivers? > Yeah, I did. Haha. It was during the hooptie tour last may. I made some "weezer shants" (they were so badass) hoping to get to meet Weezer. Then a monsoon came and ruined half of them, blue marker running down my leg. Finally I got to meet them, and Brian apparently really really liked my pants, he said i was "very artistic". Then I mentioned my animations, and Karl said "oh you must be Caroline". Then Rivers looked up at me, and said "yeah, I think I have seen that" with this evil glare in his eye. I showed him the Donut Cuomo I had painted on my pants, he did not look that happy about it. Ha! Oh Rivers... but he signed my get out of jail free card none the less. By the way, he is very pale in person. Hey, thanks for coming. It's great that people like these goofy strips so much. As long as there is an audience, there will be crapanimation. |
