They had just come back from the club and he called Shayna but she didn’t answer her phone. He went out and sat by the pool dangling his feet in the water. He leaned back on his arms and looked up at the stars. What the hell was he doing sneaking around with someone who had a boyfriend? Even if that person was Shayna. He closed his eyes and AJ’s words hit him. He was lonely the fun was over. He didn’t want this anymore. He wanted someone at night, he wanted someone to hang out with and not just have sex. He looked up to see a beer next to his face,
“Thanks.” Craig sat down beside him and nodded his head. He looked over,
“Oh, hey man.” Craig laughed,
“Its ok dude, I know you’re out of it.” Nick nodded his head and looked down at the water,
“How are things with you? You and Shayna talking again?” Nick looked over at him,
“How have you been?” Craig smiled at him and shrugged,
“Everything is fine. So, what’s up with you?” Nick’s eyes began to water,
“When is the last time I asked you that?” Craig frowned,
“Asked me what?” Nick sipped on his beer,
“How you’re doing? I saw the look on your face…like you were surprised to hear me ask…guess I’ve been a real asshole lately.” He whispered,
“In more ways than one.” He shook his head and the tears fell down his face. Craig placed his hand on Nick’s shoulder,
“What’s wrong man?” Nick looked down and cried,
“I don’t know…I’m just not happy. I mean, I don’t know why either. I don’t have the right to be upset. I have everything…house, money, cars, boats…I can pretty much do and get what I want and I still feel so lonely.” Craig sighed,
“What would make you happy?” Nick let out a heavy breath,
“Shayna.” Craig nodded,
“So, why don’t you get her back? Have you tried to talk to her?” Nick snorted,
“I got her back…just not how I want…I mean I thought its what I wanted but as usual I was wrong.” Craig shook his head and turned to him,
“I don’t understand…what do you mean?” Nick looked over at him and smiled wryly,
“She has a boyfriend-“ He saw the look on Craig’s face and laughed,
“Oh but that’s not the best part dude…wait to you get this…we’ve been sleeping together.” Craig’s eyes widened,
“What?” Nick finished off his beer,
“Yep, I started it…now I think I want more…I want her.” Craig shook his head and ran his hand through his hair,
“So, are you going to try to win her back or back off and let her be with him?” Nick shrugged,
“I don’t know but whatever I decide it’s going to be wrong…why do I always…? He sighed and looked up at the sky,
“I’m such a fuck up.”
