| Chapter 39 She looked around her room making sure she had everything she needed. Her first getaway with Bill, a bed and breakfast on the coast, she couldn’t wait. She sat on the bed and her mind kept wandering back to her last night with Nick. They hadn’t talked since that night and she didn’t think she would feel comfortable doing so. She and Nick have had some wild times but he had never made her feel so bad before. She couldn’t get over the words and his attitude, he was so harsh and she didn't understand why. The knock at the door interrupted her thoughts and she knew it was Bill; she shook Nick out of her head and was determined to have a good time with this weekend. They were sitting on the balcony of their room eating breakfast. Actually, she was in his lap and he was feeding her. She smiled at him and his smile always made her feel comfortable and happy. She was so happy with him. No drama, no silly childish arguments, he wasn’t about hanging out with his friends every night. He was settled and she was settled and they were both at the same point in their lives. “What are you thinking about?” She smiled and shrugged her shoulders coyly, “I don’t know.” She giggled as he ran his finger down her face, “You’re beautiful.” Her smile slowly faded and she bit her lip as her eyes closed at the feeling his touch brought to her. She stood up and turned around and pulled him to his feet, “What are we doing today?” He pulled her into his arms and kissed her on the lips, “I figured we could go into town, there are a few antique stores there. Then have lunch in town before coming back here…I have a surprise for you tonight.” She shivered as his finger ran down her back. He always made her feel nice, she thought, as he walked back into the room to get dressed. The sun was setting and they were standing on the pier throwing breadcrumbs to the birds when she looked over and saw him give the remainder of his bread to a little girl. She smiled as he walked back over to her, “You’re so sweet.” He laughed, “Is there any other way to be?” Apparently there is, she thought, as Nick’s words played in her ear when she said the same thing to him, “No, there isn’t.” He sat her up on the rail and held onto her thighs. He would pretend to let her go and even though she knew he wouldn’t she couldn’t help but scream every time. He ran his hands up her thighs and gripped her waist, “Ever since the first time I saw you I was attracted to you. At first it was physical but after all the lunches we had together and all the conversations I realized your beauty was surpassed only by your kind heart and your intelligence.” Her jaw drop and she placed her hand on his cheek. He covered her hands with his and smiled, “I love you Shayna.” She covered her mouth with her other hand and looked at him, “Saying something right now isn’t a bad thing.” She smiled and nodded her head, “I love you too.” It was the first time they had said that to each other and it felt totally right. She wrapped her arms around him and they hugged each other for what seemed like forever. They were in bed together her hand in his, their fingers intertwined as her head lay on his chest. This was the first time in a long time that she felt she was in a beautiful relationship. This was a relationship she wanted to last for a long time. She just couldn’t get over how stress free it was, how simple it was. She loved her life and she loved Bill, she was sure of it and there was no way she was going to let Nick mess her up again. “What are you thinking about?” She looked up at him and smiled, “How happy I am to be with you.” His fingers up and down her back and she ran her fingers up and down his chest.
