Born in the year 680 AD Granite Gargoyle (GG) is a gargoyle of birth not creation. Born when Darkwing Shen'Kahr'Khesai mated with Raven Kher'Morden. GG was to be a Lore Keeper, it would be his duty to remember and teach all history of the seventh century. Although this is one of the most respected positions next only to the Khenzai'Emir, GG wanted something different. So in the Year 685 AD GG Named himself Gorgon Koth'Vehlai, Gorgon told Darkwing "I shall become the mightiest runesmith of our time, I know that this is the true path I was intended to walk upon." Darkwing then placed a rose on the ground, turned his back upon GG and said" Let all Know my son who was to be the Keeper of the 7th Lore is DEAD!, While I mourn this occurrence I believe Raven and I must bear another child to take our firstborns place, so that the lore shall not be lost." With that he walked away from Gorgon and never looked back. Gorgon studied hard and learned quickly, the rejection of his family turned into a never ending quest to prove to himself he was worthy. The elder Ruinsmiths had never had a student with this much ambition, dedication and desire to prove themselves. In the Year 690 after passing the trials of the elements, Gorgon received the rune of silence on his right hand and the Klan rune Vehlai on his left. This marked Gorgon as a true Runesmith, a member of the house of Vehlai. Gorgon set out to make it possible for his kind to walk in the Sunlight. Over the next few centuries Gorgon witnessed, and participated in various magical experiments. Most of these experiments involved placing runes on newly born Vampyres and seeing if it provided protection from the sun. Though Gorgon held no love for the once masters of his race he quickly developed a distaste of watching the vampires die so painfull., By the turn of the 12th centure Gorgon decided that these experiments were both wrong, and bearing few fruits. GG began to gather magic books from all sources he could, He built upon the extensive library of magic that the Gargoyles had unmasked. Human, Elf, even Dragon and Daemon, any book of knowledge he would aquire, often at his own peril. This knowledge helped but was not enough, so he decided that he must study the woerkings of other magics up close. Gogon set his eyes upon an ancient archmage and began to study him from afar. Soon his desire and inquizitive nature led him into having his first contact with one from a different race. For nearly a quarter of a century Gorgon would study under him, constantly searching for ways to explain this new knowledge he was aquiring. nameless. With the insight of the archmage Gorgon began to craft the Nightstone rune. He decided he would test it on himself, so he placed it over his left breast in honor of the vampyres that had given so many of their lifes needlessly to the same cause. Before his sunrise test Gargoyles of Koth'Jhyan were dispatched upon the suspicions of Koth'Velai. They found Gorgon with the archmage, a battle like no other insued. The flying Gargoyles were blasted from the sky by the archmages simple command. But their numbers quickly made up for the momentary surprise. Soon the archmage was forced to flee and Koth'Jhyan took Gorgon in on charges of grand treason. Gorgon was placed over the Stone of sun, a large rune that would drain him of all power and leave him as an inanimate statue when the full light of the sun stuck it. Yet a strange thing occurred as the sun began to climb over the horizon Gorgon did not feel tiered or slow. As he watched some of the younger Gargoyles began to harden. Gorgon began to struggle to free himself of their claws. As the last of the Jhyhans turned to stone prior to the dawn of the full sun, GG pulled himself free from their cold stone claws. Gorgon took off into his first sunrise as he looked back upon the stone family he was forced to leave behind.
