About me.. Well, okay, I am not really Michelle Pfeiffer. But hey, a gal can dream can't she? I am just a fan. No more, no less.
As a child, I fell in love with the 1978 classic Grease. I bought the LP (back when there still were LP's) and my cousins and I would re-enact the storylines and have a ball singing along with all those wonderful songs.
So when my cousins and I heard that there was to be a follow up to Grease, we about died.
We counted the days until the movie came to our theater and were the first to stand in line.
There has been so much bad press and so many negative reviews over the years and when I think back on those days I realize that none of that mattered to any of us. Grease 2 was as fun, as spectacular and almost as good as Grease.
My cousin and I scrapped together every cent we could to buy the LP, and did, only to have someone give us another one as a present, and then someone gave us a cassette version as well. Talk about an embarrassment of riches.
So, here I am years later. Hairstyles have changed, music has changed and movies have changed.
But now there is a resurgence of the movie musical, and rumors of a possible Grease 3, (don't get your hopes up kids, I would be shocked if it ever happens), and people have begun to re-examine Grease 2 and realized that maybe it wasn't so bad.
All I remember is how much I loved it. My cousins and I were mesmerized by the movie and all of us wanted to be Michelle Pfeiffer in the worst way.
And what is funny is that I am not the only one who feels this way. Everywhere I go, I find more Grease 2 lovers along the way.
So many women I have met have talked about how they dreamed of singing, "Cool Rider" on top of a ladder or performed, "Girl For All Seasons".
And we are not alone. There is a new found respect for the movie that is slowly growing. There was even a "Rocky Horror   Show-like" performance of Grease two that opened to packed crowds, and even some celebrities like Claire Danes, Noah Wylie and most recently Drew Barrymore have admitted to being closet "Grease 2" lovers...
So, as much as Michelle Pfeiffer may want to bury this movie, there are those of us who work hard to keep that from happening.  Sorry Michelle.....
