Because the Bismarck lay incolplete in Hamburg still, White Star decided to continue building her at Blohm and Voss but under the care of Harland and Wolff workers.  In early 1920, she was mysteriously damaged by fire, undoubtably from a German sabotuer not wanting to part with 'their' ship.  She was hastily repared though as damage was not terribly great and in 1922, the ship was finished and sailed for Liverpool for her sea trials.  Afther those had been successfully completed, she was repainted in the White Star colors and was given a new name on the 12th of April; Majestic.

Now working for Whte Star, her running mates were Olympic, the only remaining of the three Olympic class ships, and Homeric, originally the German Columbus.  On May 12th, 1922, the ship sailed from Southampton to New York under the command of Commodore Captain Bertram Hayes who had been transferred from the Olympic.  Majestic, now the largest ship in the world at 56551 tonnes and 291.9 metres (955.8 feet) successfully made it into New York 7 days later.
Of the ship's three massive funnels, only two worked, the third, like on the Olympic Class ships with their fourth, was a dummy used for ventilation.  The smoke went along the side of the ship also, not through large tubes through the middle, allowing for state rooms and public rooms underneath.  The largest, and as some would say, the most luxurious ship in the world finally, after 10 years, belonged to White Star.
