In 1923, Majestic made a great speed at a crossing, averaging 24.75 knots the whole time, making her the second fastest ship in the world, the first being Mauitania.  That same year, Majestic carried 2625 passengers on a voyage, the highest ever for a White Star crossing.  It was evident Majestic was proving to be a great benefit for White Star.  The next year however, it became obvious that Majestic was getting to be an old ship, having been launched in 1914.  A large crack developed along her hull that forced her into Belfast for some treatment by Harland and Wolff.  She was back in service for the 1925 season though and during that time, made her fastest ever crossing, averaging 25 knots.  In 1928, she had a major overhaul in Boston and her forward open promenade glassed in.  The reason for it being in Boston was because there was no graving dock large enough to accomodate the massive ship in England.
In 1929, the Wall Street crash forced shipping companies to re think their next move.  White Star began opperating ships out of Halifax to New York for some extra money.  The hay day of Atlantic shipping was coming to an end.
