KILIMANJARO
Day 6 - Marangu Gate
A sustained descent with wide views across the moorland took us into the lovely forest around Mandara (2,700m/8,910ft), the first stopping place on the Marangu route.  The trail continued through semi-tropical vegetation where blue monkeys are often seen.  We spotted some in the trees and stopped and watched them for a few minutes, then continued on to the National Park gate at Marangu where we bought some well-deserved T-shirts, drank coca-cola and collected our certificates!

Signs we passed by at the Marangu gate as we walked over to our Landrovers waiting to take us back to Kibo Hotel for a hot shower!
