This truck overturned on an entrance ramp to I-95. The driver was only slightly injured and, if I remember correctly, refused medical attention. The designated running order for injury accidents was the ambulance followed by the rescue truck. I was on the rescue truck. The thing that makes this run memorable is that the truck was still running when we got there, and I was asked to shut it off since there was danger of explosion or fire (even though it was diesel which doesn't ignite as easily as gasoline). I immediately scanned the dashboard (where one would reasonably expect to find the keys in the ignition), but the kill switch was located on the floor between the two front seats. Fortunately, it only took me a second or two to find it, but to this day I think that's a strange place to put an ignition switch on a truck. |
