So you want to know about me aye? Well here it goes: I was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 17, 1983. I'm not really sure what time but i know that i was born. As you did or did not guess I am a Taurus - a little for shadowing to come. I went to Jefferson Methodist Learning Center for daycare when I was a we lad of 6 months all the way until I was 11. I hated this because i was the only 5th grader still getting picked up in a van. Nobody really teased me but i felt insecure about it. However, being at Jefferson Methodist allowed me to experience many things I would have never experience had my grandma taken care of me. I went to Maverick Elementary School. I don't remember much from there except being outside in the cold with my friends, playing tons of four square, being a mediocre basketball player, not being included in the bike rodeos and getting in a fight over a blowpop on the second to last day of school which resulted in being suspended on the last day of school. random: when we first went to harvard ms for orientation (ie tafolla) there was a guy who had escaped from the jail and found dead at the creek. For middle school I was accepted in to our school districts multilingual school -Tafolla Middle School (also know as the Harvard of middle schools.) I took French for three years. My eighth grade year I was accepted in to the English I class and Biology class. This would allow me to gain high school credit while still in middle school. Saweet! All my friends from Tafolla are the friends I would consider life long friends. random: i was on the b team for basketball my 7th grade year - i got a total of 5 minutes playing time... my only highlight was a rebound. While I don't talk to all of them I do talk to a few and I must say they are fantastic friends(Justin, Ricky, Laura, Eric, Michael, Fernando, Adrian, Natalie, Rachel, Joel, Ahmad, Maricela, Priscilla, and many more - excuse me if I forgot you, i really didn't!) Also During the middle school years I picked up on a couple of bands which I would over play in the years to come. Weezer and Everclear! Both of these bands were firmly rooted in my music foundation thanks to cousin Mike! Following suit of the magnet schools I choose to go to Burbank, No wait! I don't want to go there! But my mother made me go there. She thought it would be best if I went there. Ms. Michaels sold it to her. Blast! But that's ok. So I went there and almost hated it. I wanted to go where all my friends went which was Brackenridge. My freshman year I hung out with half of the smart kids. Half of them were in Academic Decathlon and the other half were in IB. I hung out with the IB kids - Nathaniel, Justin, Martin Ahmad and Travis. I also met a super intelligent guy who goes by the name of Benjamin Morales. This guy was probably the most creative guy i met in high school. random: my freshman year i got my first computer and was addicted to acmepet.com chat. Ben was kind enough to let me jam with him and his friend Richard in his shack. Oh yes i forgot to mention I got a bass the Christmas of 1997. I didn't really get involved much my freshman year. However, my sophomore year I became the International Club President. Still maintaining an air of negativity, I began to like Burbank a little bit. Junior year! Wahoo! I got involved and what do you know? I actually liked it. I joined the swim team and the tennis team. Our swim team made it to regionals which was the first time in the history of our school. We medaled in several things. For tennis I think it was the first year we had had it in a long time we were pretty good for being first year tennis players. Definitely had tons of fun as well as having ripped forearms! My good friend Justin and I joined the Burbank Thespians for a production of Hamlet. While we didn't advance, we were friggen good. This goodness was spawned from the excessive time we spent together. Also that year I ran for senior class president. There were 8 candidates. I initially ran for the hell of it but then later thought hey, it would be cool if I was class presidenté! I did think I would actually get it simply because i was in classes that segregated us from the rest of the student body. I really had class with about 20 or 30 different people. random: justin and i would jam out to mr. rogers neighborhood theme as we cruised in front of our school in my 99' pontiac grand am mocking the gangstas who would bass out - awesome. Also I was an imported student (being a magnet student) so I hadn't known these kids all my life like the other kids. Anyway, so the day comes to give our speech to see who gets to be king. With the exception of the first two running candidates (due to me not being able to hear them cause i was reviewing half-ass, poorly constructed speech), Everyone else's speech sounded just like mine.
What was a G to do? Everything was exactly the same save a couple of words! Right then and there I crumpled up my paper and proceeded to the podium. What I told them was exactly the opposite of what others said. "I am going to promise you that we'll have the best year ever!" We didn't get to go on a class trip because our principal, Mr. Longoria - cool guy, was too apprehensive about letting us go. Looking back now, I can see why. Segway to senior year!!!!! Wait! I took Dania to Prom! Score! Continue Segway!!!! Well my transitional summer into my senior year is definitely worth mentioning. I became really good friend with the people in our Magnet program! Rock! David and Justin were some of the closest guys I hung out with. Justin and I would do lots of things together ie hanging out, running, etc. David and I would also hang out a lot. One, because he was a super cool guy. random: skippadeedooda: or you can randomly insert that if people would like to donate money to alison rex they can contact me at skippadeedooda. Two, because he lived relatively close to a, Rosie - my girlfriend at the time, and b, Burbank. Three because he was a very personable guy. We read a few philosophy books and talked about them. Perfect timing. I needed another perspective. Rosie goes to college, Brandise, for the first time. I go to Weezer, favorite band at the time, for the first time. Senior year at Burbank! Whoop Whoop! Mi amigo Justin and I managed to join - lets count - one, two three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, twelve clubs and or organizations! Amazing. I don't remember every club I was in however if the level of involvement high school was correlated to the level of enjoyment in high school, I had an f***in' great time! Justin and I started getting big heads about ourselves but I think it was well deserved. random: i dated a coke head my first semester as a senior. And now for your top ten higlights as a senior. The first thing we did as seniors was join the Academic Decathlon team. One of the wisest decisions I have ever made. I made some life long friends in AD and had the best teacher in the world, Mr Brian Warren. Second thing, apply to all public schools in Texas! Guess what, got accecpted to all. Unfortunately I recieved paltry scholarships from all but one. Third thing, put on a show with the Burbank Thespians entitled 'The Soothing System'. Played lead role in the finale show! Whoop!. Fourth, read Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. Made me cry but i did it. Fifth, Advance to State Finals in Academic Decathlon - Place 22nd in 400 schools. Saweet! Sixth, advance to regional finals in UIL One Act Play - the longest every in Burbanks 90 year history! Whoop!. Seventh, get accepted to OLLU with a sizable Scholarship! Whoop! Eighth, Have a most excellent Prom Night, minus a few incidents. Tenth, Give a kick ass graduation speech - hopefully i can get that up soon. My senior year was definitely the most event filled year in my life. Most fun and most emotional. For those of you who know me really well you know why. Sh*t, I forgot one thing. I joined a band that would soon be known as Mavis. So I graduated from Burbank HS. I would then move on to Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. This was also the place from which my mother graduated and my grandmother graduated. Neat, huh? I decided I wasn't going to be subjected to anymore torment (really stupid silly stuff) at home and live on campus. I wanted to be free. What a great idea that was. I spent two awesome kick ass years there and met a super hot lady by the name of Sonia. more to come... |
