Yeah.  A friend of mine at work gave this car to me.  He acquired it a few years back in the same condition it's in right now.  Not Running!!  I turn the key and nothing happens.  The Oil bath air cleaner seems to be in some degree of disarray.  The clips are broken and the hoses all need to be replaced.  Interior is a bit sad.  Seats are torn up and the covers that someone put on them (not shown in pictures)  aren't much better.  Why did they put an antennae and a speaker in these cars if there wasn't a radio?  At least there isn't one in mine.  I'm optomistic at this point.  My dad tells me it'll sit in my garage for a while and then my wife will have enough of it and put either me or the car out to the curb on big trash day.  Yes that is air conditioning.  Where'm I gonna find parts for that?

Hey!!!!  After charging the battery that came in the car to no avail.  I have put a new battery in and moved some fuses around as well as reattach some of the connections  in the engine (some of them were undone or the wires weren't attached correctly).  I turned the key and hit what I suppose is the cold start button...and the starter engine works!!  It turns....it doesn't kick over yet, but I feel like I've come a long way already.  I'm not getting spark to the distributer so I think my coil is bad.  It's all rusty and nasty looking anyway...so if it's just a wiring problem I'd still like to replace the coil.  Also finding more about the strange metal line that is broken and sticking out of the side of the car by the driver side door.  A forum poster at TheSamba.com tells me it's a part of the early emissions system.  I am able to connect all the pieces...I just wasn't sure how secure it needed to be...I think I'll just slap 'em together.
A little blurry, but that's the early emissions line!
You can see the line sticking out just below the door.
Under the fender you can see where the emissions system connects up to some sort of cannister.
The connections need to be redone.
