MI9 TRAILER PICS PAGE |
The above pictures and the ones below are of a stripped down M19 . This one is ready to go to the blasters for cleaning and priming. From the pics you get a good idea of the construction and light weight of the trailer. The floor is made of plywood and can be seen lin the above right picture leaning against the fence in the background |
You can see the round tube like tail light protectors and the ski/wheel mounting brackets . Also visible are the stake pockets and rear mount for the pintle. The rectangle bracket in the right front corner of the trailer is for mounting the trailer heater. There in a second layer of plywood under the heater and I am told the only part of the floor that was rotted was under the heater |
To the left you can see the permanently mounted chain for the ski tie down. The chain also keeps the ski from dipping too far or flipping over when the skis are in use |
On the right is a view of the ski mount in the travel position. In this position the ski also acts as a fender. |
To the left, another view of the trailer ski mount. You can see the small chain that secures the wedge that is used for retaining the ski mounting shaft. This trailer is using bolts to secure the mount to the trailer. I am told by the owner that the bolts are original and in the manual it states that you remove nuts/washers/bolts then to mount the skis using the wider spaced bolt holes directly inline with the ski . I am told that the skis are 'HANDED' only for right or left specific. In addition, the axle stub shafts are notched so that they don't rotate in their mounting hole. The M19 early models , it seems, used bolts drilled in to the tongue to secure the safety chains whereas the later versions had welded safety chains. The two trailers Gordon has show each of these mountings for the safety chains. |
To the left a view of mounting leg, ski, and tire in the the summer configuration. On the right is a view of the inside of the mounting leg in the inverted position with the ski mounted |
Left is a good view of the wood hold down clips and the tarp rope hold down hooks. To the right ,in the picture, the two bolt hole horizontal recatangular mount is for a pintle hook for pulling another trailer. Right of that is a standard trailer socket mounting bracket to power the second trailer. Gordon MacMillan supplied all the photos and says there is a large wiring harness for the trailer also. It has a switch for regular light operation and a blackout switch setting. Finally, the two trailers have different sized tires the earlier version having 15" wheels the later version having 16". The specs state that 6:00-16 6 ply are the tires fitted . Gord says that the wheels are identical , except for size, and speculates the 15'' are M7 wheels. |
