M7 SURVIVOR PICTURES |

Another picture of a survivor sent to me by a friend. He found this pic on the net after determined search to find a picture of an M7 on the web. Any info on either M7 or submissions of different M7's are welcome and will be published on this site. |

Nothing is known about the M7 above, except that it came from Darrell via someone in the NorthEast United States. A nice restorable example you can see the hood is not stock and the track guards have been widened and what looks like a winch cable has been installed just under the engine had crank. Perhaps a winch is located on the floor of the passenger compartment or at the rear. Also the skis have been replaced by homemade steel ones. Probably worked fine unless they heated up by friction and you stopped. The original experitmental Models were always widening the track guards because of snow flying around, this was likely the reason these were extended by some intrepid soul. |

The above M7 was located in Saskatchewan and is now owned by Dennis in the New Jersey. It is # 143 ( if memory serves) and he is already hard at it , restoring it to prime shape. You can see the rt. side engine cover has been modified and the front skis are not original. Also it appears that the engine preheater has been removed and the exhaust rerouted from a floor exit to a tractor like stack exhaust. Hopefully, we will see some more pics of this in the future. |
Currently the count is 26 M7 survivors . Not all have been retrieved do to their locations in the wilds and expense to bring back to civilization. That being said not all of the M7's are in pristine shape . Considering that there were only 292 M7's made all in 1944, the survival rate is very good. I am sure more will surface too. |
