Alabama
Oak
Mountain Park (best)
Birmingham Alabama- 16 Miles
of great mountain bike trails and camping. Great climbs here check out
www.bump.org for specific information about
these great trails or check out the photos
or the helmet-cam videos.
Cheaha
State Park
Anniston, Al - Great trails. Rocky, steep, more difficult when compared to
Oak Mtn and the climbs are impressive. Overall, I still think Oak Mtn is
more bang for the buck! But if you are yearning for something more
difficult than Oak Mtn, check out Cheaha for sure. PHOTOS
Chickasabogue
Mobile, Alabama - Well maintained trails on State
Property. Many miles of trail - not much sand (but lots of
challenging roots) -photos-. For more information, visit Mountain Biking in
Alabama.
University
of South Alabama
Mobile - Flat but fast. A little freeride variety too. See
helmet cam video.
Providence
Place Trail
Mobile, Alabama - Nice trails but not as nice as
Chickasabogue. If you are already in Mobile it's worth the drive across
town -photos-.
Florida
Santos
Trail
(best)
Near Ocala, Florida - From what I have seen this is
the best trails in Florida....certainly the most unique. Rocks, drops,
and nearly 60 miles of trail make this place the MTB Mecca of Florida.
-photos-
Alafia
State Park (very good)
Tampa, Florida - This trail is near the top of the list for great Florida
trails. Like Santos, it was but around an old mine. Great climbs and
drops, miles of curvy singletrack through endless Palmetto forests. Bring
your balls for this one, cause' you are gonna' need em'! See
helmet-cam video.
San
Felasco (good)
Smooth curves travel in an out of scenic patches of forest with massive
oak trees which look to be at least 200 years old. No sand (yet) keeps the
pace fast while the long soft hills keep you in check. The trail is as well
marked as it can be - - no way to get lost. Check out www.rogersuderland.com
for specific info, and be sure to check out the photos.
Pensacola's
UWF
Trails
Pensacola, Florida - about 25 miles of multi-use mountain biking trails on UWF Property.
Extreme mixture of technical, fast, hilly (Florida Style), rooty, trails.
If you are in the area, you gotta take some time to ride these
trails. Better get up with the locals 1st however, as the matrix
can be confusing without a map. Visit www.porc.org
for specific information and also check out the photos
or Videos.
Hanna
Park
Jacksonville - Trials run through the wooded area
next to be beach. Not too sandy, considering how close to the beach
you are. No
real hills to speak of, but trails are fun. Maps at trail
head too.
Wilderness
Park
Tampa - No
real hills to speak of, but trails are fun and scenic. Palmetto
roots are very challenging in places. If you are in the area, it's
worth checking out -
photos -.
Boyette
Road
Tampa - South of Brandon - some nice single track, trails on open fields,
and numerous lakes. Trails here are so-so. We got lost out
there -- everything looks the same and the trail marking are
inadequate (for out-of-towners), so be careful.
Tom Brown Park
Tallahassee, Florida - about 10 miles of hard-pack & curvy trails - short but a lot of
fun! Trails are well marked, but some areas are a little confusing -
but it's impossible to get lost since it is in the City. For
specific info, check out www.cccyclists.org
Red
Bug
Tallahassee - a few miles of very "rooty" trails - but a challenging
blast to ride. Maps at trail head -- very nice. Only about a 15
minute drive from the Tom Brown Park Trails. For specific
info, check out www.cccyclists.org
St. Marks Trail
Near Tallahassee - Rails to Trails and single track. Many
miles of riding and even a few impressive sink holes along the way.
Mississippi
Bonita
Lakes
Meridian, MS - Very surprising climbs there - like a mix between Oak Mountain,
Al and Tom Brown Park, Fl. Miles of fun trail with no sand at all. I
recommend. -
photos -
Clarko
State Park
Quitman, MS - Beginner trail all the way. Mostly double track.
No major hills. Take the family on this one but be sure to bring the
fishing pole for Clarko Lake. The campsites are nice too.
Meridian only 20 miles north of here. -

North
Carolina
Tsali
Nat. Forest (best)
NC - almost 38 miles of trail - Very well marked trails, great climbs and
scenic views. Also white water nearby. Trails are the best
I've seen yet. Be sure to stay for at least 2 days so you can ride both
loops...check out the photos - A must see! Visit http://www.bearklawranch.com/Tsali/tsali.htm
for more info.
Tennessee
Ocoee National Forest,
Tennessee - trails start at the overflow camping area. The scenic views are
outstanding. White water sports nearby too.

"I
just wanted to suggest a couple more trails for you. Brevard, NC has
the most extensive trail system I've seen on the East coast as of yet.
These trails are ATP suckfests and are mostly year round trails, with the
exception of a couple of seasonal trails. There is a book by Nicole Blouin
that details some of the southeast trails as well as one that details the rides
in Brevard, NC. Hope you try them and have fun. My first
suggestion would be Black
Mountain and Sycamour trails in Brevard. You get 21 miles out of it
and a good part of it is making your way up the mountain, but what goes
up...." - Brian
Think
about adding the Swayback Bridge Trail to your Alabama trails. Great
singletrack in Wetumpka, AL. We have an 8 mile marked loop and have
just received access to land that could double our mileage.
