| Walking into the coroners office Jim and Blair are met by Dan their favorite coroner. "What do we have Danny?" "Well Jim, Blair, I haven't the slightest idea. This one has me really stumped. But you are more that willing to check out the bodies." Dan takes them into the exam room. "Oh, I just love this." Blair says under his breath. Dan hears him though, "What's the matter Blair? After all these years I would have thought that you would be used to this by now." "Well, Danny, I don't think that it is in Blair's nature to get used to things like this." Jim pats Blair on the back. "I have to finish this report so I will just leave the two of you to look all you need." "Thanks Danny." Jim says to the man as he walks back to his office. "Well, lets get this over with." Blair says with a shaky voice. "Okay, but I think that you better take it easy there Chief, after this morning I don't want you taking any chances." "Man, if those were visions, they were pretty powerful. I have nothing but respect for Emma." Blair said in awe of his new friend and fellow Mutant X member Emma DeLauro. "Maybe I should get her to help me learn some more control." "I'm sure that she could help you out." Jim says as he goes over to the examination table where Lee Masters laid. He began his own sentinel's exam in the man. From head to toe, Jim could find nothing that would indicate what had killed the young man. He had the felling that all the other victims would be the same way. Then an idea crossed his mind, "Blair, come here a minute." "Man, Jim I don't think so. You know how that gets to me." Blair said looking skeptically at his partner. "Blair, please, I think that one of your powers are starting to come out. You might be able to detect something that no one else could, not even me." Jim said begging his friend. Blair saw the look of Jim's face and knew that the man was serious. He didn't like it but he knew that Jim was right. So, he walked over to the table and looked up at Jim in a "what do I do?" expression. Jim gave him a "you know what do to" look. Hesitantly the anthropologist took the man's hand and closed his eyes in order to try to get a vision. Jim saw him gasp and jerk. A moment later Blair removed the dead man's hand from his and backed off towards the wall. "What did you see buddy?" Jim said concern for his best friend immense. "I saw electricity coming out of his hand," Blair said pointing at Lee Masters, "and another man with a weird glove fending off Masters. Then the man uses the glove to send the man to the ground and uses his other hand to touch the guys head and then the poor guys eyes roll to the back of his head and that is when I think that he dies. Jim, he shot out electricity like Brennan, Lee Masters was a new mutant." "Okay I'll get a sample of his DNA via some strand of hair and a sample from the others while you call Adam. I think that he should definitely know about this." Still grasping at what he had seen in his first self induced vision Blair agreed. While Jim got the samples Blair called his new leader on his Com-Link Ring, "Adam!" "Yes, Blair" came Adam's voice through the ring. "Jim and I are on our way to Sanctuary with some samples of hair from three murder victims one of which we are certain are from a new mutant. His name is Lee Masters. The others names are Mitch Fields and Carla Davidson. We will explain everything when we get there." Blair said into the ring. "Alright. We will be waiting for you." XXXXX Deana was at Sanctuary in the lab and heard everything. "I'm running the names through the database right now Adam." Adam walked over to where Deana was sitting at the computer and looked down at his newest member. He could already tell that he had made an excellent choice to bring her in to the team. "Alright, there we go, Lee Masters was an electrical elemental." "Like Brennan?" "Yes, like Brennan." "Who's like Brennan?" Brennan said as he walked through the sliding door into the Sanctuary Lab. Deana answers, "Lee Masters. Mitch Fields was an ursine feral, and Carla Davidson was a botanical elemental." Deana types into the computer. "No connection to each other other than the fact that they are all new mutants and they live in the same city. Oh, and none of them have been contacted by Mutant X." "What's going on here Adam?" Brennan asks. "Blair just called, he and Jim are on a murder investigation. These three have been murdered according to them. They are on their way here with some DNA samples for us to examine." "So, how did they know that they were new mutants?" Brennan asks. "I think Blair knew." Deana says. "He was upset and I think I felt some of his psionic power when I was in tune with him empathically." "Well, it sounds like he is handling the emergence of his powers pretty well. I still want you and Emma to work with him on learning some control." "You don't have to ask me Adam, I already have a plan as to how to start with his training. Emma is helping me with it as well." Adam smiled at her proudly. |
