(GT1 Version 1.1) I Finally Find the GameShark Addresses for The Used Car Lots!

Along the way while cataloguing the race parameters, I eventually figured out how the GT1 used car lots work!

I felt sort of dumb when I finally found them, because, right in front of them is the string USEDCAR!

The weird thing was, the organization was not much like I had imagined it would be.

Each "car" in the lot is represented by a four-byte structure.

The colour code is more like that used in GT2. Odd values seem to cause the car to disappear from its lot. Valid values seem to be even values from about hex 60 to about E2.

Now, there are 60 inventories in total, since the used-car lots change every 10 days, repeating the cycle on day 600. For each inventory, there are six collections of such car information, one for each of the Japanese manufacturers. Toyota is always first. Each collection has a count of the number of cars, followed by that many cars. A rather difficult-to-explain structure in front of the lots allows the game to quickly find the six correct lots for any given day.

Indeed, using a GS Pro, if you find the lots for the day you are dealing with (one easy thing to do is patch the day counter location to a value between 1 and 9, so that the game is using the first inventory), you can patch one of the car codes to (almost) any car you want. That car will then appear in that slot of that used car lot, and you will be able to purchase it for the used price. You can patch the price, too, if you want. If the colour code is not appropriate for the car, the game seems to manage to assume a suitable default colour for each particular car.

Special models do not show up if their value is patched into the lot, but LM prize cars do, and you seem to be able to purchase a fully-functional LM prize car this way.

Several of the hidden cars, such as the Corvette'67 can be made visible in the lots this way, but they lock the game if you purchase them.
