Rabbits, Chinchillas, Ducks, and Chickens
(and a partridge in a pear tree)
Fuzzy Bunny Wabbits
My jersey woolie, Baby Jenks, is on the left. You can see more pictures of her on the "pets of the past" page. The other rabbit is my french lop, Pandora. Even though I had Pandora spayed at a young age, she still managed to become horribly territorial. I do love her and have had her for six years. Even though she doesn't like to be messed with, she and I still get along alright.
This is Blitzen. After having Jenks, the jersey woolie above, I fell in love with this little guy as soon as I saw him. I know he looks like a stuffed animal, but he is fully alive. I went with a close friend to a pet store to check out another blue cream jersey woolie that she fell in love with. She wanted to make sure she was healthy, so I agreed to go along. I had no intention of getting another rabbit, but, here he is.
Fuzzy Wuzzy Chinchillas
Tecate, Brody's girlfriend. She is a darker standard gray that recently gave birth to a bouncing beige baby from her previous cage mate. Tecate is an interesting chinchilla. The fact that she is named after a mexican beer should tell you something. You see, Tecate enjoys peeing on people. But, like the rest of my pets, I respect Tecate's wishes and she doesn't pee on me.
This is Mowgli. He did turn out to be a boy and I love him very dearly. I will be taking some really good pictures of him soon, but this will give you a good idea of how simply adorable he is. He is roomies with Brody and they sleep, eat, play and do everything together. He is 5 weeks in this picture.
Chickens?!?!
Yup, it's a chicken alright. Shortly after moving into the city, there was a knock at the front door. An older lady asked me if I had a pet chicken. I said that I didn't and she turned to walk away. Wait a minute. So I asked her why she was curious and she said that there was a chicken sitting on her window sill pecking on the window to come inside. Well, as you can see, I kept her. After asking around the neighborhood, some kids told us that there was a kid who had just moved away that had a pet chicken. Well, since there aren't many chickens in this city, and even fewer chickens in this city that are afraid to be outside, I decided that I just couldn't leave her there. Oh, and if you are wondering about her name, it's Chicken!
AHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Attack of the killer three-inch-tall chick. Anyway, this is Twarp. He was supposed to be a hen, but turned out to be a rooster. I brought him home from a ranch that I was working on and raised him. Actually, I brought him home as well as two of his siblings, which Rebel ate. But since Twarp did turn out to be a rooster, and since I live in the middle of a city, Twarp now resides up at my parents' home in the mountains where he can crow all he wants. I will be getting some pictures of my full grown Twarp very soon.
The Fuzzy Ducklings Turned Big Ducks
Sunny and Petri as little ducklings. They are both female pekins. Yup, the kind used by the chinese in their food. But, Sunny and Petri are pets and I love them. They are so entertaining to watch. Update: Sunny was killed by a raccoon in March of 2002. Petri now has new playmates and one very artharitic leg...but she seems so happy. Sunny will always be missed.
This is Petri. She has had a very hard run of luck in life. Twice Duke got into the duck pen and played really rough with her, then a week before Halloween, she and Duke were both attacked by a raccoon. Both are doing well, but recovery is very slow for Petri.
