It’s a long time since we last updated anything.

I guess there was just too much happening at once here in quiet  Melrose, Scottish Borders. For us at least.

The most exciting thing was that we bought a house. If you thought that this means a lot of fuss in Germany, wait ‘till you tried it in Great Britain! It took us ages to find something suitable that sellers weren’t pulling out from at the last minute. I won’t even mention the trouble of getting a mortgage, drifters that we are.

We really like what we have now, a 3 bedroom semidetatched with a big garden with fruit trees in a good location. A lot needs to be done to it, but that will just make it more rewarding in the end. We now spend most of our spare time working on the house.

Just before Christmas we went home to Willingen to get some of our stuff that we thought might be nice having around again, now that we have a base.

I took the first part of my MRCS exam and passed it, so now it is on to part II. Meaning I am studying again. (Did I ever stop?)

I recently changed jobs, I am now working in the surgical department of the BGH, staying a year. I think it will be good experience, but it’s early days and I am still trying to find my feet.

I went on a relaxing spa vacation right after my exam, I really felt I needed something just for me. It was great, I had a really relaxing time and thoroughly enjoyed the fact that I did not have to be there for everyone at all times but people were there for me, to make me feel good. It was absolutely phantastic!

We are now planning a diving trip to the Maldives, hopefully spending some time on a boat around the islands, enjoying the divesites and some time just relaxing on a beach. We’ll post some pictures!
