Courses

Qualification Level 2, "BASIC" -- QL2 courses teach basic infantry skills. Extensive training is done on the C7 semi-automatic rifle, the C9 Light Machine Gun, and on grenades. Physical training is emphasized ensuring that every soldier can keep up with section attacks and other infantry tactics. Although graduates are not fully trained gunners yet, the can now participate in the regimates infantry training, and do various other tasks during artillery excercises.

Qualification Level 3, "ARTY" --QL3 courses turn privates into gunners. Artillery has, undeniably, the most difficult QL3 course in the army. This is due to the huge amount of information needed a gunner needs to be effective in an artillery detachment. THIS COURSE IS WHAT DIFERENTIATES THE GUNNERS FROM THE PRIVATES OF ALL OTHER TRADES! After completeing this course a gunner can now sow on his rank and proudly wear his Royal Canadian Artillery, RCA lapels.

Qualification Level 4, "Comms" or "Driver Wheels --QL4 courses are needed to become a bombadier. The "Comms" Course is a communication course that teaches a soldier how to properly use radios and voice procedure. Artillery Comms is again more difficult then the QL4s of other trades as a gunner must also be adept at the procedures and arty codewords needed when communicating an artillery mission. "Driver Wheels" courses qualifies soldiers to drive military vehicles. "Arty Driver Wheels" also includes a section on towing artillery pieces.

Rank System

Artillery has always had it's own rank system so as to diferentiate the "Gunners" from the soldiers in all other trades:

Gunner (private)
Bombadier (corporal)
Master Bombasier (master corporol)
Sergeant
Warrant Officer
Master Warrant Officer
Chief Warrant Officer
