Marie's Hobbies!
So, besides sacrifcing llamas and hanging upside down, there are other things I do for fun.  Well, okay, so I don't hang upside down.  Anyway, so, if I ever get free time, I'm probably doing something.  Right?  Right?  I thought so.  I bet you wanna know what I do on my free time, right?  Well, too bad!  I'm going to tell you anyways.

Music & Dancing

Okay, c'mon, you already know I love music, but it's really one of my big hobbies.  I listen to a lot of music and I also play music on my saxophone.  What's really cool, is, though I can't play by ear, though I wish I could, I can transpose music rather well, so I just go down to the music store an pick up a piano book, and I can transpose the music.  So, yah, I can play more contemporary songs like, "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback or Nirvana's "Come as You Are".  That's so cool for me and a lot of fun.  I just need people to do the rest of the instrumentation.  Errr.... But I have fun anyway, and that's the most important thing.  Right?
So, of course with music, I also like to dance.  Believe it or not, I'm a pretty good dancer.  At least that's what people tell me.  I think they're on crack!  But, I'll let people believe what they want to believe. Dancing is fun for me, no matter how bad I think I am at it.  I have taken a year and a half of Middle Eastern Folk Dance back in elementary school.  To get out of my second year of PE, I took a dance class which was a mix of ballet, jazz and modern dancing.  It was a lot of fun.  Also, I took a jazz dance class at university.  It was a little harder for me to do the floor moves, but I still had fun.  And of course, I love to shake it on the dance floor.  I just don't do it that often because 1) I have to pay to get in, 2) I really don't like the club atmosphere, 3) None of my friends like to dance.
Quelle dommage! Or as I like to say it, "Quelle fromage!"  Hehehehehe...

Little known fact: I won the dance competition for 8th graders at the Valentine's Dance.

Another little known fact: In Elementary and High School, I played a combined total of 6 solos.  The best one, I think, was my solo in "Donnegal Moors".  I loved it!  The worst one, the solo in "Miss Mango"  Long story.  E-mail me if you wanna know it.
Video Games
I am a video game nut!  Thanks to my dad.... Well, what can you do when you're laid up in bed for six months?  You play video games. (By the way, that was him, not me, laid up).  So, we first had an Atari until I convinced my folks to get a Nintendo.  Yes, those old ones.  I soooo wanted to play Super Mario Brothers!  Yah, I only beat the game once.  Hehehe... But, there were other games I liked, like Rollergames and Power Blade.  Thise were co0l games and I beat them more than once.  I also beat Super Mario Brothers 3 more than once.  I never really got the hang of SMB2.  So, yah, finally, we upgraded...
To Playstation!  My dad really liked auto racing games, but I got bored with them because I really know nothing about setting up a car to be race worthy.  I stuck to the adventure games like
Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot.  Also, I really love Tomb Raider.  That game is so cool!  Not only do you get to adventure, you also get to kill people.  Sure the storyline is kinda corky at times, but it's still fun!  I thought I was the coolest when I beat that dang dragon in Tomb Raider II.  I still hate those spiders, though.....
Now, after our poor PS One decided to get sick on us, my dad bought a PS2.  We really like Sony.  I beat
Jak and Daxter in three days (mostly because I had to go to work, or I would have beat it the first day) and also I got Spider-man, which I didn't quite get into because well, I got distracted by a certain character on a golf game.... So, my dad likes golf games.  I decided to buy Hot Shots Golf 3.  I thought it was going to be super dumb, but it's actualy pretty cool because the physics are real and the characters are so quirky!  My favourite character is Zeus.  Oh..... he's so hot and he has an awesome personality, the "I want you to be afraid of me because I am the most evil person you know" type deal.  So, since I can't have him in real life, my computer is named Zeus and I have a lot of Zeus' soundbytes for my warning messages.  Hehehehehe...
All in all, I love playing video games.  No wonder why my brain is fried.  I don't like sports games, like hockey or basketball, but I'm willing to take recommendations on anything else.  E-mail me at
wfmarie@yahoo.com to do so.
Drawing & Crafts
When I was younger, I wanted to be an artist.  Not anymore.  I don't really feel art is my place in this world.  However, I still love to draw.  I draw mostly people and animals.  I don't know why I draw people, I don't like people very much.  But, it's fun, especially when I'm drawing up a character for D&D (Dungeons and Dragons).  I also like draw from pictures of bands.  I have several drawings I've done of the Arrogant Worms and the Smashing Pumpkins.  It's so hard to do, but I draw them.  I also have done a drawing of the HSG3 character Zeus (because they don't have a pic of him on the website) where I drew it, then scanned it in and coloured it in Photoshop.  Also, I did a cartoony self-portrait on the computer.  The thing is, I really don't consider myself a good artist because I can't draw EXACTLY what I want.  All of my pictures come out cartoony and I can never draw that exact same thing, so I can't be a cartoonist.   Damn this world!  But, I figure if I have fun doing it, it's okay no matter what I draw.  Most people think I should be an artist, but then, my self-criticism gets me down.  Like I said, I can't draw exactly what I want.  But, might as well have fun doing it, right?  Hehehehe... So, here ia my self portrait... kinda anime style...

I used to paint a lot, as well, but that got kinda old for me.  I like drawing better because I can shade things better and my hands don't become nervous wrecks!  Do you know how hard it is to paint a thin line?  Escpecially when your hands are twitching?   Not fun.  At least with a pencil you can erase (Another reason why I'm not an artist, I erase too much).  So, I'll quit complaining about my lack of painting ability.
I love doing crafts, though. It's one of the few things I can't mess up unless I try really hard.  I like
cross-stiching a lot, as well as making jewellery or bead pets, or anything that really get's my hands involved.  Back in grade 8, I'd make these rope and raffia baskets.  I could usually get one done in an hour to an hour and an half.  So, two baskets in one day (this was in an after school program that lasted from 3:30-5:00pm).  Also, I like making gifts, too.  Well, it kinda depends on the person.  Sometimes, I'll also give people crafts gifts like a cross-stitch or something.   I told you I grew up in a Bohemian area!  But, yah, though sometimes crafts are time-consuming, I still have fun plus it gives me something to do.
Writing
Another art form I really don't think I'm good at, but still like to do: writing.  Well, what the problem is, I have a very fickle muse.  She is inspired by certain events and after she produces about 10 crap writings and 2 good writings, she's done for a year.  I used to be really creative and descriptive.  I don't know what happened.  Well, let's kinda take a walk through all of the writing I remember.
Grade 6:  I wrote very odd and somewhat psychotic stories, that were dark and often reeked of death.  One story in particular starred me and my friend from grade 4 (who to this day, I can't remmeber how I met her).  So we enter this world and the first thing we see is a rusty tin can with a rusty knife gone through it atached to a tree and a worm pops out and tells us to go back.  Then, somehow, monkeys with M-80's got involved, too.  It was quite a funny story, really, just awfully demented.
Grade 7:  I wrote humourous documentaries.   Can you say "Oxymoron?"  I was so fortuantel as to write a rather hilarious report on Canada, my home and native land (okay, not really).  My history teacher really enjoyed it.  Humour is so the way to get your pages up in numbers.
Grade 8: Still writing demented stories, just with a moral to it.  There was one story called "2 Chances 2 Kindness" about two girls who forgave each other for everything until one girl wound up killing the other for some unknown reason.  Yah, another weird story that was somewhat tongue in cheek to Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol", according to my teacher.
High School:  We didn't get to do creative writing anymore, so that so pissed me off and I think that's why I don't have much creativity now.  I'm so sad.  I had to start thinking logically.  What's up with that?  So, all of my creative writing changed in to rather odd musings in my journal.  Because now, I have gotten into "real" music (not comedy stuff), I started writing more song lyrics.  Not that I didn't do that before.  I've been a lyricist like, since grade 3 when I was in chorus.  But, now I wrote more serious songs about adolescence.  I think the most fun songs were the ones that I'd writng about a friend of mine, usually a guy friend, and make it sounds more like a love song.  Oh, and of course, I had started taking French, so I got more things to rhyme with.  hehehehe...  But, yah, that was the most serious song writing time of my life.  I might share some stuff later...
University:  On my own time, I write random things: autobiographical incidents (which I try to spice up to no avail), serious and silly songs, poems, short stories and, my latest endeavour, screenplays.  Oh, boy, the screenplay thing is quite odd.  You'll have to e-mail me to find out why, but really, it's WEIRD....Also, my screenplays are often comical with important issues.  The two I finished over the summer are very comical but they deal with communication in realtionships.  That is so important!  In both friendships and romantic relationships.  I mean, if you don't tell a person that you're busy doing something, the other person is going to wonder what's wrong.
I have my own piece of webspace that has my writing and other art endevours.

Dungeons & Dragons
So, finally, after knowing one of my friends for two years and knowing she plays D&D, she has finally invited me to play!  And it's a lot of fun.  Certainly, I have had thoughts of being an actress, but not many Hollyweird types like larger women, so that blew my career.  But, role playing is fun, so I enjoy it.  Plus, I get to hang out with my bestest-type friend.  Hmm.... I wonder how well it'd work to play an online D&D campaign?
Right now, I'm involved in a D&D campaign and a Vampire the Masquerade campaign...  Both of my characters I developed pretty well this time, so I'm having a lot of fun playing them.  However, Mairin in the D&D campaign is rather bored because she's a rather promiscuous type and she hasn't been getting any lately.  Whereas my Vampire character is like, the complete opposite because he, Casper Voorhees, is waiting for his true love to arrive in Pensacola so he can profess his undying love to her.  And he's just not into flings, even if it is to get life sustaining blood.  haha!

Other Hobbies
Okay, truth is, I do hang upside down, I don't sacrifice llamas.  Other things I do include annoying people, often times just being myself, confusing people (which is usually something I intentionally do), hang out with my friends, research Canada, and do various and assorted things on the computer.  Hmmm.... computers are good.  So, looking for a good time?  I don't think you'll find it here unless you have the same hobbies as I do.  Hehehehe...  I think that's enough about my hobbies.  Maybe I have given you more ideas on what you can do in your spare time.  Just remember, so long as you're having fun, then it's a good thing!
