Somewhere

Somewhere, beyond the shadows,
Where the grass grows tall and green,
And the sun shines down on flowers,
(The loveliest ever seen),
A little girl is dancing
With butterflies and birds
And singing in a lilting voice
A song that needs no words.
She knows no pain or illness,
never feels anger or fear,
Her eyes are bright and smiling
And never shed a tear.
Somewhere, beyond my vision,
Past the shining stars above,
A little girl is cradled
In happiness and love.
She is never lonely,
Angels are her company.
And, perhaps, she's looking,
From up high, down here at me.
Somewhere, beyond my reach,
In a world I cannot touch,
Is the little girl I love
And miss so very much.
Someday I'm going to join her
In that place so far away,
And I will finally hold
my little girl, that day.
