Polizzi Generosa
Polizzi Generosa sits on a hilltop in the Madonie Mountains. The drive up the  steep, twisting road  was an exhilarating experience. We wondered how this and other hill towns were settled and  populated  without the use of modern transports.
This is Via Roma with a view of the Chiesa Madre.  The stone work and round arched doorways tell of the  town's  medieval  beginnings, yet the many colorful balconies reflect today's population.
This was a lovely square we came to in front of the church of San Nicola di Franchis . Rather then paint  the  image of  the church
I decided to illustrate this  little couryard off the square and a street decending to a lower part of town. When you drive your auto down one of these streets you never know if  the street will turn into a pathway not wide enough  to continue. We soon discovered the best way to see the town is to park your car and explore on foot.
