Travels To Sicily

The Greeks arrived in Sicily in the eighth century B.C Then the Romans made it the first province of their empire. The Arabs turned Sicily into the cultural center of the western world during their years of conquest. The Normans came and built their castles and cathedrals, followed by the Spanish and Austrian nobles who  spread the art of the Baroque through the island. The art and architecture of these conquests have made Sicily a paradise for visitors, and  artists.
On our first visit to Palermo, Sicily, we took  the  SNAV jetliner, from Naples.  Leaving Sicily, we traveled on  the  overnight train  from Messina to Rome. On our second trip to Sicily, we flew into Palermo from Naples, flying to Rome on our return trip.  On our last visit we flew from Rome to Palermo, later renting a car in town to explore the island.  We returned to mainland Italy with the car via the ferry from Messina to Calabria.   All very different experiences.

I have just retuned from  a two week stay in western Sicily and Palermo. So there  will be new paintings to be exhbited shorty.
