The  town of Scopello grew up around the medieval Baglio, which  was used in the 18th century as a fort.
The one small square whose focal point is the fountain, where at all times of the day one sees people from the town and the surrounding area come on foot, or in all types of of vechicles, to fill their containers with fresh water.
We attended Mass at this unassuming white stucco church. Its small bell announced the Saturday evening service.  What made it a truly memorable experience was the extraordinary tenor  voice of the altar server.
There are other memories I have of Scopello. Kittens are encountered in many corners. The beautiful cacti plants along a garden wall, was not far from a hanging fig tree, where I was able to snatch a fig.
