All the musicians of Master Formula met in Vacaville, CA at the pharmaceutical company where they all work. When Nester, Mel, Steve, Joey & Marc first got together two days after Christmas 2006, it was their intention to do nothing more than jam together on an off day during their Christmas vacation. But once they began playing, they realized that each of them was a serious musician and that the group had great potential. Following the example of another music band, The Departures, whose group was also comprised of members who met & work in the same company, they made the commitment to group as often as possible to begin building up a repertoire. Like the Departures, they named the band using a work-related term. "Master formulas" are documents that technicians follow & fill out at work. News of the formation of the band spread like wildfire throughout the company, & before too long, they were asked to perform for company parties. After nearly six months of practicing together, their reputation began spreading beyond the walls of the company, & they began performing at house parties.
The music that Master Formula plays includes rock, pop, soul & country and spans five decades of music styles. They hope to be able to touch people of all ages & musical tastes. Their mission is to increase happiness among as many people as possible through music.
