It seems that with the events that took place in our country on September 11th, the world is now more paranoid than ever, and there is increased suspicion towards hackers. As hackers, we must unite and realize that we are being unfairly targeted.  Just because you are a hacker does not mean that you are poised to subvert the country.  With all it's failings, the U.S is still the greatest country in the world, and all of our hackers friends abroad will agree.  To all the anti-hacker groups (and you know who you are), be warned that we STILL know your weaknesses, and instead of globalizing against all hackers, embrace us, because we are a part of you.

Some Web pages attacked since Sept. 11 include one that described itself as the official Web site for the Presidential Palace of Afghanistan, along with the home page for Iran's largest state-run university, Payame Noor University.

So far, hackers largely have confined themselves to Web defacement.  Experts are more worried about hackers using the "denial of service" attack.

30 Nations Sign Cybercrime Treaty

The United States and 29 other nations signed a treaty November 23, 2001 establishing common tools and rules for fighting Internet crime  The treaty also includes provisions added in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that give member states common powers to search and intercept the Internet communications of suspected terrorists.

Critics allege that U.S. law-enforcement agencies will use the treaty as an end-run around U.S. surveillance laws, and as a way to obtain the kinds of powers not granted in new U.S. anti-terrorism legislation signed into law last month.
