The Being

(1983)

By the title, I'd say it's not motivated enough to be "the Doing"... think about it... This "epic" takes place in the happy community of Pottsville, Idaho- land of potatoes AND pot! What a combo! WHOA! POTatoes! Uhm... sorry. Well, in Pottsville, the locals are coming up dead with goo found near the bodies. The damn thing starts off like a preview, featuring narration and plot summary within the first minute! From there it becomes WAY too action oriented, not showing us nearly enough storyline. It's like we've fallen into the second part of a "Batman" episode from the 60's! Anyway, the creature is a mutated boy (remember, they may be monsters, but they're also someone's son or daughter [sometimes both!]) who is freakish and can melt himself into goo and slip through cracks and crevasses in his mission to kill, for killings sake! Yeah, it's your basic industrial waste scare flick. But, the special FX were pretty goo-d (groan), except that the creature looked particularly lame while in motion. Also, the "acting" was pretty... what's the word?... oh yeah, HORRID! So, there it is. See you next time! Same Being-time, same Being-channel!
