King Kong vs. Godzilla

(1963)

Sorry kiddies, but I can't seem to find any copies of this movie right now. I used to have one, but a tragic house fire devoured it, and I haven't really seen any since. Let this be a lesson to everyone: when recreating a Viking funeral, make sure to keep fire extinguishers handy and do so away from any barrels of flammable liquid, INCLUDING embalming fluid! Anyway, I can give ya what I remember, as opposed to some sites who just cut and paste the descriptions or reviews from movie selling sites (i.e. "Sarah's Page of Horror" stealing her IDLE HANDS review from VideoFlicks.com). So, here goes: First of all, King Kong DID die back in the old b&w American movie. THIS is a different giant monkey! It had to be, because the original Kong would've only come up to 'Zilla's knee! So, basically, Toho went on name recognition, as opposed to an actual character fight. It all starts when either Godzilla breaks out of his iceberg prison from GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN, or Kong is discovered and captured by some TV station publicists, who want to use the big monkey for ratings! Kong's capture is a long and drawn out one, as he has to fight a giant squid and get drunk off berry juice or something. Kong is then boated to Japan (actually, he breaks out part of the way there and swims the rest of the way), where he meets up with the rampaging Godzilla and the two fight. Kong gets his hairy ass trampled, and wanders off like a moron when Godzilla zaps him with his atomic fire! Basically, the two then stomp their separate paths around the Land of the Rising Sun, before the humans stop Kong's woman kidnapping with some tribal music through their portable PA. system and some berry mist bombs. Then they strap some big balloons on him and drop him on Mt. Fuji, where he gets into his final rumble with the big lizard. Thanx to a stray lightning storm, Kong gets supercharged and his one-sided tussle with the G Man switches tides, when Kong finally beats G! Actually, I don't think he technically beats him, because the two roll into the ocean, and though Kong is the only one to emerge, the Japanese version's audio features Godzilla's roar at this point. Oh, by the way, those urban legends about there being two different endings to this flick, are lies! This audio byte of Godzilla's roar is the only difference. The American version just features Kong's victorious howl. Uhm, also, there was some shit about one of the human characters having corns on his feet or something... Don't worry kids, once I do get a copy of this movie, I'll do a much more elaborate review with plenty of in jokes and innuendoes! I promise!!!!!!

Also Known As: KING KONG VS. PROMETHEUS; KING KONG VS. FRANKENSTEIN

Sequels: Actually, the older series of Godzilla flicks never really connected with each other, so I guess they're technically not sequels...
