| The NAACP HIV/AIDS Prevention and Education Project of Idaho is a non profit community based organization (CBO) whose goal is to educate African Americans and other communities of color in Idaho about their Risk for HIV/AIDS. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This Project is funded through a grant from the State of Idaho Health Dept. STD/AIDS division which has a grant from the Center for Disease Control (CDC). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| HIV and AIDS is greatest killer of African Americans 18-44 years old. HIV is increasingly being transmitted through Heterosexual contact. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| African Americans account for 13% of the total United States Population, yet make up over 49% of the total U.S. AIDS cases. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
