What is Faith? What is faith? a general meaning of faith, the meaning that anyone would give you, is simply to believe... just believe, thats what many people say faith is. But what really is faith? to believe, thats too general. Faith is... a trust, based on a revelation of how great and gracious God is. This has been something that I have been lacking in the last months, yeah I have known who He is, but I have not been having the revelations that I have needed to keep that faith burning inside me. And why do we lack faith? I dont know why the individual lacks it, its different for many people, but a main reason is that we are not in the Word, thats where we get many revelations of how great and gracious He is! And yeah, I have been schmacking myself in the head all day, cause thats what people have been telling me all along, and i think deep inside I have known it, but yeah... Sometimes we also forget, we may of had a revelation, but sometimes, things can come along and make us forget them. take a look at a few verses... Eph 2:8 You were saved by faith in God, who treats us much better than we deserve. This is God's gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own. Now change that too... 'You were saved by a revelation of how great and gracious God is, who treats us much better than we deserve. This is God's gift to you, and not anything you have done on your own.' And what about Eph 6:16 'Let your faith be like a shield, and you will be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one.' Try it this way.... 'Let your revelation of how great and gracious God is, be a shielf and you will be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one!' I like that one!! By knowing who He is, by knowing how great, awesome and powerful He is, thats when we can really come against the enemy. And... Matthew 6:30 ' God gives such beauty to everything that grows in the fields, even thought it is here today and thrown into a fire tomorrow. He will surely do even more for you! He will surely do even more for you! Why do you have such a little revelation of how great and gracious God is?' We need to recognise where our life styles prevent a faith life style..... In other words... what is stopping you from having faith... or what is stopping you from having revelations of how great and gracious God is. Ask yourself... where is the first place you go when you have problems? That will surely tell ya if ya have a faith life style of now. Many go to the phone... a friend... the net. they might seem like they help... but they dont. I was at ladies group today... and we had a guest speaker. I have no idea what she was talking about, but she said... after she had called and called around everyone she knew, everyone in her church and couldnt get hold of anyone, she decided to go to her knees! That jumped out at me sooo much. But it is sooo true, we all go and try and find someone to talk to, someone or something to vent our pains, our frustrations to. I talked about this with my youth girls last night.. and Jess... she is funny, I asked her where is the first place she goes when she has a problem, and she said her teddy! She is funny, but I love her, she really has a heart for God. But then she went on to say that she now tries to go to her knees,,, cause she knows that that is where she will get answers and help. something here in Aus, is that as a student.... or someone looking for work, i get a government payment each fortnight... and I have to say, its quiet a nice payment for studying 18 hrs a week. But honestly... this is an excuse for why many fail to turn to God in times of need. Its always there to fall back on. yes it is a real blessing and in a way its how God provides, but it does prevent a faith lifestyle. I just think of the people in India... in other countries... who completerly.. and always... always fully rely on God for everything! Ladies... God does not judge yer circumstances... but He does judge the way you respond to it. Matthew 10:39 ' he who finds his own life will lose it, and he who loses his own life for My sake will find it.' ... we can not try and take care of things and be blessed at the same time!! |
