Help Absolve Wrongful Conviction

of Kevin MacKinnon
This is an open letter Kevin MacKinnon sent to his family and friends:
not doing it.  Do people have to have such an antrocity done to them before they can find it in themselves to step up and fight for justice?  To fight for what everyone says they know is wrong?  That I did not do it!  Certainly anyone put through this would feel as I do.  And just like me, based on the personal knowledge and fact I did not kill Laine, they would also expect all kinds of help.  Everyone has to understand that what has been done to me consumes me in my efforts to right this terrible wrong.  Everyone has to accept that and know that it naturally would.

There has been a ton of stuff that has happened to me in the years I have been in prison, a lot of which most people do not even know about.  They don't know because I've not been asked, and I am afraid to bring it all up because of fear that they won't be able to handle knowing it.  I can't afford to lose what personal support is still active.  While there has been more and more people supporting the fact that I have been wrongly convicted, I do not always feel that I have personal support.  I know that for most all of them it is one in the same, but it doesn't always feel like that.

Who wants to hear about the assaults and other stuff that has happened to me?  Or the constant threats by goof prisoners and staff alike.  Who wants to hear about institutional politics that has almost seen me killed four times now.  Who cares enough to.  I am so thankful for those who do.  They have kept me and my spirits alive.  And the small things like just letting certain people and offices know they are aware and concerned has also kept things from getting worse.  I will never be able to thank those few people enough for what they have done for me.  BUT  I really have to say it, it is still all going on and I still need that type of help and personal support.  I need all the help I can get.  I WILL DIE in prison if I don't get it.

There are many smaller things we can all do.  Simple things.  Contacting the media and asking what is being done about my wrongful conviction.  Anything to bring more attention to it.  Contacting and insisiting that your MLA and MP look into my case and refer it to be corrected.  Where to start you ask?  Perhaps with, "I believe Kevin MacKinnon was wrongfully convicted"  Cite some reasons and ask for help and my case to be looked at or for help and some referrals.  Easy stuff!  Any effort is very much appreciated and would be of help.  Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.  I really hope to hear from you soon.  Take care

Kevin
