Village Talang Maur with Gambir Fields Surroundings
Gambir is a plant that leaves used in bettle chewing, tanning and dying. This plant grows in the forest or other hill slopes and required enough sunlight. Usually it prefers to grow on 200 metres and 900 metres above sea levels. It belongs to bush-trees and it is found in North Eastern part of Payakumbuh district, like in Pangkalan and Talang Maur areas.  In Talang Maur, almost every family has one gambir field of around one hectares and each man living in this village knows how to grow gambir and to make gambir pellets.
