Mehndi or Henna , A natural Dyer
Botanical name: Lawsonia Alba ( LANK ) , Lawsonia Inermis
Bhera is famous for the production of Mehndi or Henna.
Henna is a natural plant colouring hair ; made from the powdered leaves of a shrub plant , Lawsonia . Applied as a mud and washed out after
a few hours. Its effects last upto a few weeks . Mehndi is traditional form of decoration for women in countries like Pakistan and India . It is generally used for special occasions
, particularly weddings and religious festivals. The leaves are ground into fine powder , then mixed with water and applied on the hands
, feet and hair to give them a reddish-orange colour. Henna decorating is a favourite art and hobby . Mehndi powder is a good product of Bhera and is supplied all over the country .
