Sixth and seventh years classes are designed to instruct the students in the subject matter of their career interests. All older students are required to still have at least two classes.

One class should be taught individually or in a small group by a Professor, in order to delve deeper into the subjects that interest them. Such classes take place in the library or in the Professor's office, rather than in a formal classroom. One of the required classes may be an independent study class, where students research and practice a certain area of magic.
