I have geneology book on dudley's from iowa. We originally came from (Sutton Castle also known as Dudley Castle in Northumberland, England. Three brothers came to Mass. early 1600 and became well known, one of which was governor of mass. Some of our ancesters fought at the bridge at concord which started the revolutionary war.records of the virginia dudley's are pretty skeetchy but indicate that they were related to the concord dudley's and the connecticutt dudleys. Some of the dudley's moved to vermont.there was a Major Robert Dudley of Virginia and he died of gunshot wounds shortly after the battle of Brandywine.William Lofland Dudley (7th row) wasborn in covington kentucky and died at nashville tenn. Edward B Dudley was govrnor of North Carolina in 1848 and died in 1855. Great web site! Just so you know, there is now a "Hawaiian" conection. My mother's maiden name is Toombs, born in Gurdon, Arkansas, born 1-18-34. Married Billy Gordon Danner, from Prescott, Arkansas, born 10-29-32. Dad was an Army officer, we moved to Haw ii when I was 14. I never left, married a Hawaiian man. We have 2 girls, 14 & 20. I lost my Dad 4 1/2 years ago to cancer, and I am now losing my husband to cancer. He is only 38, I am 42.
