ABOUT ME,  MY FAMILY & MY BRICKWALLS!

I was born in 1953 in Takoma Park, MD.  I attended schools in Rockville and Silver Spring.  I currently live in Kensington, Maryland a suburb of Washington D.C. with a wonderful, understanding husband, Jay, my 21 year old son Matt,  my rather crazy deaf cat - Ira, and my Labrador Retriever - Nikki. My two other sons, Scott and Doug both have fled the coop and fortunately (for me) live in the area. I became a grandmother on September 12, 2006...a beautiful baby girl, Addison Nicole Remer. I've never felt so much love in my life. She is fantastic. I love playing golf (My Passion), researching my genealogy (My obsession), baseball - especially the Washington National's and the Washington Redskins.

My Aneurysm & SAH - NEW

On May 22, 2006 I suffered an aneurysm and Subarachnoid hemorrhage.  I was flown by helicopter to Washington Hospital Center where I underwent a surgery called "coiling" to stop the bleeding.  A week later I had to have an angioplasty.  I was in the hospital for three weeks, two in ICU and apparently just hooked up to everything. But I am really very, very, lucky. I know I am here because of my first grandchild. That thought kept me going and so did the love I have for my family and friends, genealogy community included!

I want to thank everyone who sent cards, food, etc...and my wonderful family for staying by my side.  I also want to mention how wonderful the staff at the hospital was.  I don't remember a darn thing for the three weeks I was there but from what I've been told everyone was wonderful.  I am lucky to be alive, and able to lead a rather normal life, though I do get extremely tired.  For this reason some of the memories may take a while for me to upload and I may not be updating my pages as much.  I am back at work but only 12 hours per week.  If anyone out there is looking for someone to provide any type of computer research or typing from home please consider me!!!

FAMILY PHOTOS

I have a few family photos I'd like to share

My dear sweet grandmother, Elsie Lamb Engel

I have been researching my family ancestry for well over twelve years. My maternal line goes back to Jamestown, VA (Chewe). My paternal line (Jones) may be as far back, but I am at a BRICKWALL with Nathaniel and Judith Jones. They were found in Westmoreland County VA as early as 1650. Need to find out where they came from!! If anything looks familiar to you please let me know. I love meeting new cousins!!  My other Jones line has been found in Washington DC as early as 1850...though I know that William Butler Jones was born in Maryland around 1824.  I'm just stuck with the Joneses! Help!

ANOTHER BRICK WALL!!!

Mary Ollie Clark(e) was born near Knoxville TN in 1868. Her father, Edwin Reuben Clark died in 1880. His first wife, and mother of Ollie, Mary Ann Sessler died in 1873. His second wife, Eliza Alice Trent died in 1884. I think that Ollie went to live with her sister Abbie Bell Clark Hoss, wife of Elijah Embree Hoss, a Baptist minister. He did perform her marriage to my great grandfather but I'm stuck on where they went. Oh well, one day I'll find out!
