Sponge Painted Shamrocks Cut shamrocks from sponges and let the children dip in green paint and press onto paper. Traditional
Ireland "Punching" or Or Pricking Draw the shape of Ireland onto a piece of construction paper and let the children "punch" on the lines with a push pin. Do this on a scrap piece of carpet. Variations: Use stencils to trace any shape onto a quartered piece of construction paper and let the children "punch" on the line. Shamrock Crayon Rubbing Using a piece of cardboard or matt board draw a shamrock shape with a pencil. Outline the shapes with a bottle of glue. Let the glue dry. Take copy paper and lay it on top of the shamrocks and rub it with the side of a green crayon. Unknown
Shamrock Discovery Soda Bottles Fill soda bottles with water and some green food coloring, Easter grass, green and silver glitter, green sequins, buttons, and green shamrock confetti. Put the lid on tightly. Wrap the lid with duct tape or hot glue. Let the children enjoy and discover. Note: Fill the bottle with anything that is green and won't dissolve in the water.. Unknown
Lucky Shamrocks Supplies needed: Lime flavored Jell-o, shamrock shaped cookie cutter, whip cream, sprinkles. In advance, prepare the Jell-o according to instructions. Have the children press the shamrock cookie cutter into the Jell-o. Place the shamrocks on paper plates and have the children top with sprinkles and whipped cream. Unknown
Shimmering Shamrocks Cut out shamrock shapes from construction paper. Have the children put glue around the edge of the shamrock. Sprinkle salt or sugar onto the glue. Variation: Use green plastic wrap and cut holes in the shamrock and tape behind the shamrock. Unknown
Over the Rainbow Materials needed: crayons, (or paint), butcher paper. Draw a huge rainbow for the whole class to color or paint. Have the children fill in the arches with different colors. Variation: Dip each child's hand into paint and make a rainbow of "hands". Unknown
Hide the Shamrock Cut a shamrock out of green construction paper. Chose a child to be leader. While the others cover their eyes, the leader hides the shamrock within the classroom. All players open their eyes and try to find the shamrock. The finder gets to be leader next.
Leprechaun Gold Game Spray paint macaroni with yellow or gold paint. Hide them in a water table filled with rice or beans. The children LOVE finding the "gold". Unknown
Green Puppy Cut a shamrock out of green construction paper. Turn it upside down so that the stem is upwards. Glue wiggle eyes into the center. Add a pom pom nose and red construction paper tongue at the very bottom. (hanging down from the shamrock). Unknown
Pot of Gold Cover or paint a small box (your pot) black. Give each child beans bags that you have prepared with gold sequins. Encourage the children to count how many "gold pieces" they put in the pot. Explain that the "leprechauns" are thought to have a pot of gold hidden somewhere, possibly at the end of the rainbow.
