Journal entries for the month of March, 2000

March 30, 2000

Hi I am going to keep this short but sweet -- I didn't weigh in this week because I had my tonsills out instead! I am feeling okay -- considering!! I am doing better with my intake I had 11 WW points today (about 550 calories.) I had been at 4 points (about 200 calories) but it is getting easier! My aim this week is just to hang in there and to take good care of me! Can't wait to get back on the program, hopefully next week -- either way I will weigh in on the 6th! I posted a new picture of me so you can see the progress -- have a good week all!!!

What a week!! The weeks seem to fly by!  Although that is nice when waiting for vacations to come, I am starting to feel like life is flying by just a little too fast! My kids are growing as fast as the weeks are passing -- my BABY is starting kindergarten in the fall!!

This week when I went in to weigh, I did have my reservations (as I often do).  My hope was to lose 1.75 pounds to get my 75 pound magnet.  I knew I had lost, but though maybe just a pound. Well, I stepped on the scale and lost 2.75 pounds!! I was soo happy!! I have now lost 76 pounds! I look down at my body, with 26 to go, and I just DON'T believe it!  I keep waiting to wake up, because although there have definately been some tough times, I haven't struggled every minute of every day the way I thought I would have to!!

My official goal is to be 130 -- I am 5'3" so that isn't at all unreasonable.  Weight Watchers guidelines say 113 - 141.   113 I do think is unreasonably low, at least for me.  I have 15 pounds to go until I hit the top of their goal weight range, and 11 pounds from there. I just know that I will make it!

Something that I used this last week that I found very helpful to me is something called an "anchor".  Take something that "connects you" to the program - like your 10% keyring if you are a WW member, or anything! It could be as simple as a penny in your pocket! Just get something that is going to remind you about your weight loss program, and to think about if something is worth it before you it!  What I did was put a little sticker my hand.  Everytime I saw the sticker I thought about the program and how much I wanted to get my 75 pound magnet and was reminded to do the best I could!

I wont be going for weigh in next week because I am going to go and get my tonsills out instead!! (although it doesn't sounds like   quite as much fun!!)
I will probably post to keep in the habit!! Hope you all have a wonderful and blessed week - I know that you can achieve your goals, because if I can, anyone can!!! So find an anchor, and put it to use!

One more thing to add -- I would really like to start posting some recipes on the new recipe page, so if you have any favorite low fat recipes please email them to me -- thanks a ton!!!

Wow! Another week flown by already!! Much to my surprise I lost 1.75 pounds!! Yay!! That put me down into the 150's and was a little milestone for me.  In another 1.75 pounds my total will be 75 pounds lost!! I cant wait! But, I may have too!! I weigh in again on thursday (March 23 )  and then I will miss a week because I am having my tonsills out. So I wont weigh in again unitl April 6.

I am always trying something new to keep myself  inspired and motivated.  This week I am going to try writing. I have used it as a tool before and have found it helpful.  Sometimes if I just sit down and write fast and furious and pour out all my feelings and frustrations onto paper I feel soo much better!  I often tend to turn to food when I am frustrated. So this week I am going to write write write whenever I am feeling the "need" to feed my face out of emotion!  An email group that I am was talking about writing as an outlet and a source of growth and inspiration.  Someone posted an interesting article about writing that suggests writing fast and furious and not worrying if the words dont flow or make sense. Just write and write and eventually you get to the bottom of what is bothering you.  The article suggests writing with your opposite hand (left if you are right handed) and starting off with something like the Gettysberg address if you can't seem to get started.  This technique seems to be quite helpful to me and I am often finding myself writing out some "truths" that I really needed to hear and admit to myself!!!

I hope that you are all having a wonderful week! catch ya next week! Chel

Hi everyone!! I can't believe that it has been a month since I stopped by to leave a message - sorry!

I had a little set back several weeks ago.  I went pretty much off the program for a week and gained 2.5 pounds. I have spent the last 3 weeks taking it back off at the rate of 1 pound per week!!  Even though I have been on this program a year, I guess I needed the reminder that I need this program!

I have new motivation to finish my weightloss - which I really needed! My younger sister is getting married in September. which is 29 weeks away. So basically if I could average just over 1 pound a week I would be at goal. My real goal is to be at 130 by MY anniversary which is only  16 weeks away.  I would have to lose 2 pounds a week for that one, so I don't know that I will really make it. I dont want to push myself to hard or set an unreasonable goal. Guess it will all pan out in the end!

Here is something I need to start using to stay on track -- stop signs and redlights! Do you know what your stop signs are? How about your red lights? Stop signs are how you know when it is time to stop eating - do you wait (as I sometimes do) until you are sooo stuffed to stop? How do you know when you have had enough? Did you know that it takes 20 minutes for your brain to tell your stomach that you are full? By that time you could be really stuffed!!!  Red lights are a little different.  Are there certain qualities about some foods that make them irresistable to you? Can you not stop once you start eating that salty snack? Or is it crunchy foods? Sweet? chewy? tart? creamy? Is there is a kind of food that you lose control of yourself around? These are your red light foods! I need to learn how to deal with my red light foods!! Some of them I simply can't have, unless I have the points available to sit down and eat them all! (ever heard of flips - those chocolate covered pretzels? They have redlight all over them!! I can not leave them! I have to buy only one snack size pack at a time  - that is 2 servings and 5 points. I would eat them till they were coming out my ears -- yum!! ) Some of the other redlight foods I can stock in the house and as long as I take one serving out AND PUT THE REST AWAY FIRST I am fine!

Soo, learn your stop signs, learn your red lights, and obey these traffic rules!
