1862. Reduced to ranks on or about April 21, 1862. Hospitalized at Richmond,
Virginia, December 28, 1862, with pneumonia and was transferred on Janurary 16,
1863. Reported present during November-December, 1864. Deserted to the enemy
on or about February 25, 1865. Confined at Washington, D.C. March 1, 1865.
Released on an unspecified date after taking the Oath of Allegiance.
On 1860 census, Alex was living next door to his parents, and with Richard
Morris age 60, Lucinda age 58, Elizabeth age 18, Franklin Huff age 21, and
Wille G. Morris age 21 (C.S. Teacher), all living in his house. Did Alex mary
