Let me introduce myself to you, I am 46 years old, married to David for 28 years, and we have two daughters: Sara who is 16 years old and Holly who is 4 years old. (I know huge gap ... not intended it just worked out that way!). We have a cat called Rosie, and a slightly neurotic dog called Jessie and two exotic Persian cats called Snooks & Nelson. I am a full-time wife & mother, and part-time complementary therapist ... with the emphasis very much on the "complimentary" I'm the first to visit my G.P. if I need expert advice or antibiotics! I am also a part-time case worker at a voluntary sector drug service.
I left school at sixteen and fell into my office job, as a "stop-gap" until I decided what I really wanted to do ... and twenty-seven years on I still haven't really made up my mind! I am currently on a three year career break from my office job, but I am pretty much decided that I am not going to go back ... I want to develop my complementary therapy business further and I am loving my work in the drugs field so maybe that is where my future path will take me.
I studied massage at Middlesbrough College of Further Education where I gained VIA Diplomas, awarded by the International Institute of Health & Holistic Therapists, in the following subjects:
Aromatherapy - 1year course 1997 - 1998
Reflexology - 6 months course 1998 - 1999
Indian Head Massage - 6 months course 1999
In December 2000 I was instructed in the Usui Shiki Ryoho system of Reiki, and was attuned to the First Degree of Reiki healing. In July 2001 I was attuned to the Second Degree of Reiki healing. In July 2003 I did a course in Th. Hot Stone Massage and in August 2003 I was attuned to Seichem Reiki Master level.
In October 2001 I joined an established Therapy Centre as a freelance therapist. I am steadily building up a regular clientelle and enjoying every minute of it ... this is the work that "feeds my soul" and is an area of my life that I want to expand.
I have completed the NCFE Certificate in Basic Counselling Skills and the NCFE Counselling Certificate. I am finding that these counselling skills are serving me very well both in my complementary therapy work, and also in the drug couselling service.
I am currently studying to become a Crystal Healing Practitioner with the Spiritual Venturers Association, this is a two year course, and I am finding that working with crystals complements my other therapies very well.
I hope that eventually this site will offer help and advice on these therapies and other subjects that interest me, such as crystals & tarot.
