August 20, 1990:  I tried calling Henry again.  His line was now busy, so I knew he must be home. I finally got a hold of him and he said he’d been camping all weekend and had been on the phone with his grandma (for almost 3 hours?).  I bought it hook, line, and sinker.  We ended up talking on the phone for quite a while and he asked me to go to a movie with him the following day.   I accepted, of course!

August 21, 1990:  Kim and I met up with Henry and Aaron at the mall once again for our movie date.  We walked around the mall for a bit.  Then, Aaron commented that I had arms like a football player (I was wearing a flowered tank top with a matching flowered frilly skirt). It hurt my feelings when Henry didn’t stick up for me, so Kim and I walked away.  This could have been the end, but Henry was too cute to just give up on like that.  So, we went back over to them and Aaron apologized.  We then headed on over to the movie theater (which there is no walkway to, you have to go through the mall parking lot and then climb a big ‘ol hill to get there).   We bought tickets for Flatliners, but I can honestly say I never “saw” the movie until we rented it on our 11 year dating anniversary last year.  After the movie, Henry asked me if I would “go out” with him and I agreed.  He gave me a gold necklace that he was wearing and I gave him my class ring.  The deal was sealed.

Sometime in 1998: Henry finally confesses to me that he wasn’t “looking for his dad” at the mall, he was, in fact, looking for his girlfriend that he was supposed to meet there.  He also wasn’t “talking to his grandma” for 3 hours, he was talking to his girlfriend.   He dated both of us for about a month before choosing me.  Best choice he ever made!  I wasn’t too happy with him when he told me. But, now I think it’s pretty funny that it took him that long to tell me!

I can honestly say that I love Henry more with each day.  When I dreamed of who my husband would be as a little girl, the man I envisioned wasn't half as wonderful as my Henry.

September, 1990: I don’t recall exactly when, but at some point in this month Henry actually said he wanted to marry me. It didn’t seem strange at all at the time, but looking back it’s pretty hilarious!   To think we knew each other well enough to be engaged after less than a month!?!?

August 6, 1994:  Henry and I were married in the most beautiful wedding ceremony.  My dad spoke for a while and made me cry and then the mayor married us in front of our friends and family.  It was a wonderful, but stressful day!
