Healing the Family Tree This prayer may be used in sections or as a tool to help us remember issues to bring to the Lord for healing. Eternal Father, I come before you in Jesus’ name. I am sorry for the times I have offended you and I ask you to bless me with the grace to be a worthy representative of my family. Trusting in your love for us all, and knowing that you are most merciful, I as their representative ask pardon for all our sins, faults and failings * * * * * * * * * * * * Father, in Jesus’ name I raise my heart and voice to you in praise, adoration and thanksgiving for the gift of my life and the life of my family. Jesus told us that He came to give us life, and life to the fullest. I know that you desire to make my family whole and that you have already begun to heal us. We are aware that sometimes it is not your will to heal us physically, but it is always your will to heal us spiritually, and so we accept

Father, I ask that you take away all obstacles that may interfere with your healing plan for my family. I ask you to remove our lack of faith and our lack of trust in you. May all members of my family tree, both living and deceased, receive an outpouring of your love and mercy. Father, on behalf of my family I extend forgiveness to all those who have hurt, persecuted or maligned my family, individually or collectively. Not only do I extend forgiveness, Lord, but I ask for your blessing on them and on their descendants. Out of their pain, please bring some good. Father I ask forgiveness from anyone that I or members of my family, have unintentionally or intentionally injured. I ask that you give us insight into the events that have made us feel ashamed, guilty, or have brought about a separation from you. Father, I ask for healing of all issues of self-condemnation, fear, or rejection, real or imagined, feelings of unworthiness or inferiority in our family. I ask that your healing power reach out to those whom we have hurt and touch their woundedness. I ask a blessing on them and on their descendants.

Father, I commend to you all members of my family who were or are burdened with addictions and compulsive behaviors—including alcoholism, drug addiction, food compulsions, gambling, over spending, anorexia, bulimia, and any behaviors that rob us of a free and healthy life. Give us the grace and courage to face our temptations and overcome them. Assist us as we struggle toward wholeness.

Father, I commend to you all members of my family who are bound because of sexual perversions, including pornography, rape, incest, lust, fornication, adultery, homosexuality and lesbianism. Give us the grace to live pure lives, lives imbued with your love. Father, I commend to you all members of my family, who have led others from the path of righteousness through temptation, slavery, and prejudice, physical, emotional, or spiritual torture. May they understand the Divine Adoption as an integral part of their lives.

Father, I commend to you all members of my family who have died in prison, or who brought shame on my family by deceitful behavior, including stealing, extortion, prostitution, and selling illegal or immoral substances and materials. Grant them pardon and help them to focus on the spiritual life---the life of the soul.
