Herreid's city park is located just outside of town. Travelers can enjoy free camping and picnicing. The Karl Deibert Park located in town next to Highway 83 features lighted tennis and basketball courts, a playground, picnic area, and the outdoor heated city pool.

Herreid has an abundant supply of various game and fish that attracts sports people from all corners of the United States. Hunters can enjoy wild game such as deer, pheasants, geese, ducks, grouse, partridge, Sandhill cranes, and doves. Anglers will catch walleye, northern pike, catfish, salmon, and bass in both summer and winter.

Herreid is located just 15 minutes from the beautiful Missouri River. Avid outdoors people will enjoy boating, fishing, swimming water-skiing, wind surfing, and jet skiing.

Winter sports fanatics will enjoy snowmobiling, ice fishing, and cross country skiing. Downhill skiing is located less than three hours away.
