A few days before a meet the swimmer will
receive their meet schedule in their file folder.
This will tell them when and where the swimmer needs to be. Swim
meets are broken into morning and afternoon sessions.
You will swim one or the other but not both. Its a
good idea to bring
the event sheet to the meet as it outlines the swimmer's
events for the day.
Locate the Facility before you leave home: Finding the various swimming facilities on Oahu can be a
challenge. Check your welcome booklet for location
before leaving home. Read and understand the directions
before hitting the road. Some of the printed
directions do not assume you are leaving from Hickam. Print out a
map if you need it.
Unless you know the pool and where you
will be located, bring a folding chair or mat to sit on.
Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen help on those trade-windless days. Reading material,
homework, and game-boys can come in handy while you wait for
your swimmer's event.
You will need to keep your swimmer
hydrated and replenished between heats. Generally you
can find what you need at the concessions (especially rice
dishes) but you can also bring in your own eats.
You'll want to pack compactly as we often share a small
area.
Pack a Sharpie (fine permanent marker) or two as these are highly sought
after to write event, heat and lane numbers on your
swimmer's arm.
