Another scottish thorough-bred.  It was a scottish loco for most of its life until eventually moving south permanately in 92.  It like 672 was unreliable and spent a lot of its time at Inverness stored although after conversion to 47/8 it has reappeared in traffic.  A tribute to Inverness TMD's work perhaps, but 854 became one of the last locos working Cross-Country trains in Britain. While the official end has been and gone, 854 was now transferred to Alstoms fleet (ATLO) and worked on VWC until being sold to the West Coast Railway Company in June 2003 where it is now a regular performer.
