My family obtained this recipe years ago from a sweet lady that worked for my mom. It's a lot of work, so we usually save it for our annual Christmas cookie bake. Everybody gets together just after Thanksgiving to make cookies. Each family member brings the recipe and ingredients for a big batch of their favorites. Then, when all the cookies are baked, we divide them up equally. That way everyone has a wide assortment. These chocolate cookies are so good that at least two recipes are made so everyone has plenty.
