Examples of two kinds of forms: on the left, wire mesh attached to a tree branch, and on the right, a cloth bag (sewn together in a chosen shape), lined with a nylon stocking, and filled with perlite.
We were shown three different ways of covering the forms with flax pulp - in these pictures, the pulp is being applied by pouring it over the wire mesh form.
In the above examples, the form becomes a part of the final creation.  In this work, the flax was applied to the wire mesh form in the following manner.  The form was brushed with methyl cellulose; then pulled sheets of flax were applied to the form.  When dry, the form easily pops out and can be re-used.
